I have a past due account with HSBC. It has been turned over to united recovery systems. At first, they offered a settlement, but at the time, I could not afford it. I then just made a small payment to them every month until now. I called and asked to settle, they told me HSBC is not offering a settlement as this time. I then asked to speak to a supervisor who told me that I need to be 4 months late again for them to accept an offer.

I called HSBC and thought they would jump on this, they told me to deal with United and they could not help me at this time.

Any ideas or suggestions on how I can settle with HSBC now(while I have some extra money)

we also tried to settle with hsbc. we had 50% of our balance. they wanted 80%. We explained to them that we were with already had 2 credit cards in legal action and we really wanted to settle out this account to keep it out of legal action. We tried the sob story. didn't work. They were also very difficult. My husband was calling every couple of days trying to make a settlement and every day we would get a ugly message from United Recovery saying that we were avoiding them. We were not, we were calling every few days. it was like we were not even calling. And then my husband talked to one lady who said there was no record of all our calls and attempts to pay. So we gave up and added them to our debt settlement account. You would think that HSBC would want to settle right now for 1/2 instead of dragging in out for 2 years. Guess not.

I don't undertand sometimes. I am trying to pay my accounts, i just can't pay the full amounts right now. You would think that these places would rather take less than to force people into bankrupsy. guess they don't care
