Regardless of your "time period to dispute" before the CA "assumes" the debt is valid, you still have rights under the FCRA to dispute inaccurate information at ANY time.According to the FCRA, both the credit bureau and the organization providing information to the credit bureau MUST correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your report. If you dispute an item on your credit report and it is found to be inaccurate, the Credit bureau is REQUIRED to re-investigate the inaccurate item(s) (unless they deem your dispute to be frivolous) including sharing data you provide about the dispute to the information provider (i.e. the creditor or CA). After the information provider receives notice of your dispute from the credit bureau, it MUSTinvestigate your dispute, including reviewing all relevant information provided by the credit bureau. A report of the results will be sent to the bureau in response to the dispute. Disputed information that cannot be verified MUST be deleted from your file and any erroneous information MUST be corrected.
