allied interstate literally calls here every day, several times a day for the last 3 years. They are looking for another person with the same first and last name, but a different middle initial and a different social security number. I've written them and I've threatened them. They just say "excuse the call". This seems like a HORRIBLE way to go after a debtor....to call everyone in the book with the same name..especially a name as common as my husband's. There are literally 20 of the same name in our little community alone. What can I do to get this to stop?

Send a cease and desist letter to their mailing address, certified mail return receipt requested. They will be legally forced to stop calling you after receiving the letter. If they try to contact again, you will get a legal case for violation of the fdcpa.

Check with your state if collections calls are allowed recording secretly? You can also do it by letting them know about your actions before they start speaking. The recording will put more weight after sending the letter.
