Hi Mgglbrn,
That's great that you're ready to get your finances in order. I'd start off with pulling your credit report from all 3 agencies. I actually just did this today from: www.annualcreditreport.com
It was very easy, free, and walks you through obtaining your credit report from each agency, and then bouces you back to select the next credit agency to pull.
Print all 3 of them out and start comparing. Not all companies report to all 3 credit agency.
Good luck to you! :P

Not all debt is on credit reports.. medical debt.. if not put into collections.. I think that's the real question being asked... how to find ALL debt
I use a credit monitoring service that my company just came out
I use a credit monitoring service that my company just came out with and it's very cool because not only serves as monitoring (partnered with Equifax, by the way), but it also helps you develop a strategy (a fast pay plan) to get out of debt through debt stacking in real-time. It's called DebtWatchers and it costs the same as Equifax already charges per month ($14.95, and you cancel at any time), plus the added features of debt management and automated alerts. Check it out and feel free to contact me for further questions: ****************************

Ok.......I saw something, on this thread that REALLY bothered me. Someone, above had said, "just look at your Credit Report, dummy." I think that's uncalled for!! NO ONE should be called such names!! We are ALL on this Forum to learn how to deal with our debts. NOT to be 'put down' by other people!! Just some (personal) advice here: look at your CR and see which SOL (Statue of Limitations) have expired. The SOL is not the same in every state...I live in PA, so..I know the SOL is 4 years here. If the SOL is almost 'exoired', I would leave the debt alone. If you make some kind of payment arrangements on it, you will start the SOL over ('re-Aging' the debt), and this you don't want to do.

I'm late to this party but I'm trying to help someone with debts
I'm late to this party but I'm trying to help someone with debts and my question is the what JessMe above refers to as the "real question being asked" here. Credit report, as I understand it doesn't show medical bills, utility bills and several other things that may come back to haunt you. How does one go about finding "ALL" debt, not just that which shows up on a credit report? Thanks,

Medical bills and utility bills (if sent to CAs) will show up on your CR; speaking from my own experience several years ago. If the debts are not on your CR, then they are still with the OC. IF you are wanting to pay/settle the debts, try contacting the OC; otherwise wait until you hear from a CA. I am only aware of the CR as the central point for reporting debt info.
