I just got the matter of of the Prism/CBSD cleared up and closed the account and now Sectrum/SBSD and Citibank USA NA/ccsm have shown up on my credit monitoring that new accounts have been opened. I don't want to have to pay for a credit report every time one of these new accounts show up that I did not open. What can be done to stop this nonsense with citi bank?

hey all.. FYI i just called about this issue as well.. it was on my Credit report too.. i called the 1800 number.. they said it was a ZALES account. that "converted" to a mastercard... instead of a just a zales account.. citibank handles the financing..

I just received this from Equifax. Called the number above, and yes, since I haven't used my Macy's card in one month, they issued me a new Citi Mastercard (which I was able to cancel). Thanks for the number... glad I searched online!
Cheers

CCSMC Spectrum opened anaccount in my name without permission CitiBank is the culpret turned the info into customer fraud division and the Vermont fraud division. they should not open accounts in anyones name without their permission So i consider it fraudulent.

I also had the e-mail fom my credit reporting agency informing me of a new account opened on my report. I Contacted Citibank at 800-950-5114 they were polite and helpfull. The lady checked my info to ensure it was cancelled and informed me it would update my credit report in 30 days. the above number is 24 hrs 7 days a week.

I have to say im glad they swicth my macys card to a master card instead of having me get to the register and find out that its closed, i see it like this either way it go it a card that we orginally open weather it was switched or not and in these days even with perfect credit its hard to get a credit card because the companys are scared to lend, so im happy citibank did not just close out my account, and as far as the credit report either way it go you have a card open weather its citi or macys its still a card. Also i looked it up and Citi own over 60 vendors including most of the gas cards, sears, homedepot, most of the tire cards, office depot office max, staples, zales etc. so it hard to not get a citi card.

citbank owns everything so get over it, Citibank is one of the largest financial institutions in the world its hard to not have a citibank account, i see it like this you pay your bill on time and take care of you financial responsibility you wont have any complaints. Name something citi dont own and i bet you citi will eventually own it. So while you complaning about citi you need to look at you sears card, home depot, shell, exxon, phillips, sunoco, conoco, childerens place, zales, amex, tire kingdom, etc. Citi owns everthing.

I had a different experience with CCSMC SPECTRUM/CBSD. A charge of over $1000.00 under the name of CCSMC SPECTRUM/CBSD was presented to my Bank of America charge card. BofA put a stop on it and notified me. I told them I had not authorized any such charge. BofA closed my account and issued me a new card.

I just got my credit report and it shows an account that was opened and then closed 17 mos. later with ccsmc spectrum/cbsd. I read through the other posting here and saw referance to it possibly being a Macy's card or Citibank card, but I have never had either of those. Does anyone have an other ideas?

Be careful about using a phone number supplied in an open chat like this. That could be a fraudulent number and you don't want to be supplying your account info to someone who could use it themselves. I'm not finding a reliable number to call by doing an online search. Waiting for a new card to arrive with a phone number on it makes sense. BTW, just saw that Citibank was seriously hacked in May.

You have a couple of provisions of the FCRA that you might want to exercise.
First, regarding who this party is, the CRA is required, upon written request from a consumer, to provide full disclosure of any information reported to your credit file. You only need to file a request under the provisions of FCRA 609(a)(1), along with proof of your identity, identification of the information requested, and the requisite fee, which is currently $10.50. That will give you the name and address of the reporting party, and exactly what and when they reported.
Second, if you believe the account is not related to any transaction authorized by you, then the first step is to file a police report, alleging that since you didnt authorize it, then it is probable identity theft. YOu dont have to prove anything, just assert it. The police report becomes what FCRA 603(q) refers to as an identity theft report, and provides you with a means to either block the continuance of that reporting in your CR under FCRA 605B, place an extended fraud alert on your credit file under FCRA 605A(b), or file a dispute under FCRA 611(a) or 623(a)(8).
