Capitol one on credit report

MY CAPITOL ONE CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT was transferred to a collection company. Now I know it stays on my report for 7 years, but they are reporting I am past due. I am paying a collection agency each month through a debt counseling company and Capitol one posts it to my balance but it looks like I am past due a large amount. Can I write to the company asking to state pay as agreed, it is hurting my credit score.

Under the FCRA law the creditor may report only the correct status of the account to the big three. You can negotiate with them to change its status to 'paid as agreed' but it can only be done after it's paid off.
