I would like to know if closing an account could effect your credit report.
I just got an discover card. I wanted to only use it to transfer a balance, but realized that it was for only 3.9% 6 months and I was looking for 0% apr for one year on balance transfers. Since I have not used the card can I close this card without effecting my credit score.

another thought,if you have a balance, delinquent or not.they could demand the entire balance if you close your card.be sure to ask first.

I have serveral old credit cards that I no longer use or for that matter, I have not used for years. I want to close these and I need to Know how to go about this. Noe of these cards have balances nor have I received a statement for years. There was a couple that had a form letter to use for this purpose, but I have misplaced their web site address. could you advise me on somethin similar?
