I had a charge off that was sent to collections. It was paid. What is the date that I use as a reference as to when it will fall off my report in 7 years? They report it every month. Should they be doing that?
Thank you!

Current Status: COLLECTION ACCOUNT
Account Owner: Individual Account.
High Credit: $894
Type of Account : Open Credit Limit: $0

Date Opened: n/a
Balance: $0
Date Reported: 11/2006
Amount Past Due: $0
Date of Last Payment: 07/2003 Actual Payment Amount: $0
Scheduled Payment Amount: $0
Date of Last Activity: 07/2001
Date Major Delinquency First Reported: Months Reviewed: n/a
Creditor Classification: Activity Description: Paid
Charge Off Amount: $0
Deferred Payment Start Date:
Balloon Payment Amount: $0
Balloon Payment Date:
Date Closed:
Type of Loan: Factoring Company Account (debt purchaser

It is legal for them to report account information every month. What really matters is the DOFD (Date of First Delinquency). Seven years after after the DOFD, it should come off the credit report.

It seems the above report does not list the DOFD:
Quote:

Date Major Delinquency First Reported: Months Reviewed: n/a

You could dispute that report on the grounds it is not accurately reflecting the DOFD.

If you do a search for "FCRA DOFD" you should come up with some more information.

It's true. SOL renews on the latest payment date.

Date of first delinquency is to be considered only to calculate the term of negative item to stay in the credit report, in case payment on the account stops.

After the SOL expires, you get the legal protection and no one can take you to the court. That is why a company tries to collect before the account gets past the SOL. Or, in case, if it's past the SOL, they will insist you to do a small payment so that the SOL gets renewed.
