I am in the process of rebuilding my credit. I am working to pay off the things on my credit report (old collections, student loan garnishment, etc) and slowly rebuilding my credit (it went up 120 points in the last year ...by making ontime car payments on my loan with a 23% interest rate).

Anyway, I was interested in getting a secured credit card, so I can try to help it even more. I plan to use $ 500 for this. Any recomendations for cards?

you could also go for a secured credit card from HSBC because there is No minimum income required, Annual fee waived, and they also report to the major credit bureaus . It is one of the best options that you could see around that would help you to build you credit . If you have any kind of other obligations like personal loans, credit cards or medical bills etc then just get rid of these creditors by paying them off so that you could use your secured credit card in a better manner build your credit faster .

Before you go paying anything willy nilly you should make sure they are being reported correctly and are the correct company holding your debt. Also you need to have an eye for just how old the accounts are, because if you pay something, it will return it to a current status and tank your score, not to mention reset the SOL period. Honestly you should pay only the ones who are willing to accept a pay for delete.
