I received a letter from the above named firm regarding a cell phone account with a company that I have never had either. I was very hesitant to even calling the number listed on the letter. The letter did demand full payment of an amount that I do not owe for any cell phone service. I plan to call the BBB and credit respiratory including take the letter to my attorney and let him review it.

Thanks,
Ttotally

My aunt received a letter from this supposed "attorney's" office also. The letter stated she owed money to a cell phone company which she never had an account with. She asked that i call with her on a 3way call so i may translate for her and the operator she/we spoke with asked her for the last 4 digets of her social, after giving them to the operator , the operator said these #'s did not match the social they had on file and to just disregard the letter.......i dont know but after we hung up, i was left wondering why would they have sent her the letter in the first place? And now im worried they might be doing some type of fraud with my aunts credit..... F.y.i. they do speak very fast as if they are trying to get you off the phone fast enought for you not to ask questions or something......

So im wondering if anyone had the same situation and your outcome..

i had rcvd a letter from the law offices of law offices of mitchell n. kay after dealing with superior asset management for a cell phone bill that i do not owe. I sent the law office a dispute letter by certified may last june (2008). I called multiple times after receiving the signed rcpt showing they got my letter. they said it would take at least 2 weeks to review the letter. In my letter i requested that they send me information regarding this so called unpaid debt-again that i do not owe.....still waiting for a reply from them, or anyone else for that matter. today i rcvd a call from another collection company that now is working to collect less than $40. Sounds like this "law office" of mitchel n kay is pretty shady.....does anyone have an updated number for this "law office?"

I just recieved a phone call from them today and sure enough a letter came in the mail. Saying they will let me pay the debt for 30% less than what I really owe. I went on their website and tried putting my refernce number in since I am not home to view the physical letter and it says my refernce # does not exist! I am afraid to pay them anything. Any ideas?

Just got a letter from them today. Stating I owe Chevron. I did have a Chevron account that I paid off and closed over 10 years ago.
The number on the letter is 888-647-0633. Another website suggested calling the FTC ( Federal Trade Commission) in New York. The number is 212-607-2829.

I received a letter from this company recently for a cell phone account I never had either. I would advise that you call the company from whom the account directly originated. I spoke with the cell phone company who removed the account from my record - perhaps someone had opened it fraudulently with my information, and they later sold the account to this "law office". Either way, I will not pay any debt that is not mine, and if you are emphatic enough that you owe nothing, then you should never choose to settle with this collection agency. A settlement is reflected on your credit report as a negative incident.

They called me in reference to a old phone bill that i had.... And its legit bill that i avoided paying. I gave them all my information to settle the bill, now after reading all these posting i'm nervous to the fact of them now having my banking information.. F**k..... I was hoping this was legit, they told me they would give me a letter of satisfaction after the bill was taken care of.....I feel violated now.

This company is a FRUD. They are not even locate inside of the USA. My attorney even tried to contact them and they were rude and belligerent with him and with me. I have also contact the better business bureau. DO NOT PAY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!!!! They are not a legitimate business nor the the New York Bar have an Attorney by the name in New York.

Always do you homework before paying or giving personal information.

I get attorney's letters all the time. I am in business for myself, and every now again, an attorney will threaten to sue me through regular mail.

Unless you are properly served a summons, I would not worry about it, but do write them a letter, certified receipt requested, that the debt is not valid, and for them to stop contacting you unless it is
1) to let you know that they are dropping everything against you.
2) to let you know that they are pursuing additional action against you.

Case closed..

and if they somehow are able toput anything on your credit report, again, write them a letter and sue them.

Hi, I have also received a bill from this "Law Firm" Or "Collection Agency" Whatever the hell they're called. Says I owe a bill of $1,303 from a cell phone I used to have, but this is the first letter I have gotten from anyone regarding this issue..the cell phone has been disconnected for 5 years now. Supposedly I owe this money to T-Mobile (Formerly Voicestream wireless). But as mentioned before..I have never recieved anything from the cell phone company themselves, and I am certainly suspicious of this letter I received from this "Law firm". They're offering me a settlement payment of 50% of what I really owe. Any suggestions anyone?

I recieved the same letter. I am not even going to entertain this ignorance. It looks to be for an account in 1992. Come on if it is ligitimate, I hope they are smart enough to take it as a loss.

These letters of phone bill payments are all fake. These people are good for they have gone as far as sending information on my husband's T-mobile account which was all correct EXCEPT for the fact he is no longer a member of T-mobile. He called T-mobile and they said he owes them nothing. So, if you get any of these letters or calls, IGNORE them!

So, i get this damn letter in the mail. Says I owe for a Chase acct. I've never been with Chase and its not on my credit report. So i go on there crappy website, and put in this reference number and there is my info. So i decided to call these people. An arabic man pics up (Mind you the name of this company is Mitchell N. Kay), sounds american to me. lol But anyway, the man is really quick with me. I'm, trying to ask him questions but he is too busy asking me. I told him that his website was down and he told me that he doesnt do anything with the website, so I said who does "this is your customer service line right?" This man keeps asking for my credit card information. "I don't think so honey". I hung up on his A%$.

No, They are not even in NY, when I looked them up with the BBB their address was a chicago address, but the letter I got was from NY. And they are not a credited company with the BBB.

When facing a collector:

1.) Ask for a copy of the original Agreement with your signature ( when I ask, I never get a copy and they never call back). They may say, " WE have it, and you owe it, so pay us!". Don't trust, but verify. It's too bothersome (expensive) for them to search this stuff out from files years ago.
2.) Always tell them they are violating the law and you will write to the FTC, 3) Old collections are sold after 7 years and appear on your credit report - It's illegal. the debt is oof after 7 years and you can sell the collection, but the collector can't collect on it.
3) Capital One, BofA, etc will settle for 20% on the dollar that is the only amount to offer the collector. In fact Cap 1 will offer you a new credit card after 6 1/2 years if you pay just 25% of the old debt as , "Paid as Agreed."
Hope this helps you all. It saved me a bundle. I haven't paid a single one yet.

Hey guys these bastards called me yesterday and i got a letter from them today in the mail demanding payment. I knew right away it was a scam when I got a call from a guy with foreign accent. To keep things short, in the letter I recieved it said, "Our client is authorizing us to offer you the opportunity to settle your account for 55% of the above balance due, equal to $442.47." First thing that comes to mind is..uhhh.. What client??? If it was a real demanding letter it would go something like, "Attention Mofo send me a check for die." LOL
