Okay - I truly need some help here. Anyone care to jump in? Does it really make a difference if I am with a debt-settlement law firm? I gave them my PoA, and all that. Collectors just do NOT stop calling. The calling even increases sometimes!

- 7 months of hell and no end in sight.

Settlement companies remain busy five days in the beginning and the end of the month. They are busy settling hundreds of thousands of dollars of debts with the creditors.

When a creditor calls you, tell them that you have hired an attorney to handle your accounts. Ask the original creditor for the address where you can send a copy of the letter your attorney sent to dispute certain entries on your periodic statement. This is in accordance with the Fair Credit Billing Act.

Don't discuss the issue further. Tell them that your attorneys are taking care of your accounts and they are in a better position to handle the issue.

Tell the name of the creditor, account number and the entire amount to your settlement company know. Keep yourself informed about the laws. Track down the phone calls if they are done in violation of the FCBA.
