Welcome to the Forums :D Here is a link to the SOL state by state at http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html#T You can write a DV letter, and also a cease and desist letter to the company. As long as there is a balance though, they, or some other agency they sell it too, will try to collect. I have had about 9 agencies try to collect on a debt, they just re-sell it, or pass it to their other agencies. Be sure and put in the letter about the SOL period, and keep copies of everything.Good Luck,.,Karen If they still try to contact you after you send these, keep records of calls, names, etc.

Like Bossy said, write a dispute letter to the collection agency and mention the expiry of the SOL. Make them aware of the laws and the debt is gone out of the legal reporting time frame. They will always try to collect until paid. You need to notify them with your dispute and a complete C&D letter.
does talking to the CA renew sol
does just talking to the CA renew the SOL? Informing them that it is past the SOL and no longer on my credit report - no promise to pay - actually a refusal to pay based on the above and I asked for a DV letter (because of the amt) which she said she would send and I told her I would be sending a C&D letter. Do I have to wait for the DV letter first? b4 I send the C&D . She already had all the info of course with an inflated balance amt and the date she was giving me was over 7 years. and her final reply was so this is a refusal to pay? which I clearly stated yes due to the SOL and removal from my credit report. Thanks so much for your replies.
