I received a letter today from the above. Thinking this was my local Bank I called the company. They stated that I could opt out on who they furnished my credit info to if I called and told them. I got a recording asking for my account number (if you dont have your account number give us your Social and then the recording asked for my zip code.
Later I questioned my actions and called the President of my Bank. He stated he has never heard of them. I checked the web and it is loaded with complaints about this company.
May I please hear from you.

They tried to scam my mother and I with a paper that looked like a tax form. I ended up sending copies of my mother's info, license, ss card and now I am terrified that it was a scam. The tax form looked legit, so I am going to have my mother pull her credit report.....

I, too recieved a mailing ("privacy statement") from world financial network national bank telling me if I didn't want my personal info "shared" to call the 800 number. I also got the recording requesting first my account number (what account?!!) and then my ss#. I thought NO WAY and checked on the internet and found all the wfnnb scam information. I will give this mailing to the post office. The thing that first tipped me off that it might not be legit was that it was in my name, rather than my husband's. (our cr. card acct. is in his name.)

I think there might be two WFNNBs, one legit, one scamming. For example, I do not have any credit cards by any companies owned by the legit WFNNB.

I do however, have some defaulted internetpayday loans that have nothing to do with WFNNB.

However, three times today on my home phone WFNNB showd up on my caller ID Box. Each time with a different area code and telephone number. This is highly suspect of someone trying to scam

I looked up these guys on BBB. They are rated A+ through them. They represent a very long list of retail operations- list is on the BBB site. I was in the middle of filing a complaint because I got a notice from them and didn't know who the heck they were, when I looked again at the very top of the notice- it said it was regarding changes to my Express credit card agreement. I thought I had cancelled long ago but it looks like I didn't.

Hope that helps some people figure out why they are getting mailings from this company. I definitely would agree that WFNNB should make it much clearer which retailer they are representing in these mailings.

Thanks for telling me to read the top of the letter addressed to me. I read 75% of the letter trying to figure out who these people were. I even called the number they had listed and got the same reply many others did. Through the internet, I found a direct number and planned to call them on Monday but your email telling me to read the first paragraph told me exactually who they represented. New York and Company, a clothing store's credit card has a zero balance with me but I will close it out immediately.

This was so helpful. Look at the first paragraph in bold, and it will tell you who WFNNB is representing.

Thank you too. I also read it several times but never noticed the first paragraphs says Dressbarn Credit Card. Now I want to close the account but could not find the card (as I have never used it after I opened the account). Any suggestion what I can do to close it? I suppose if I call the 800 number I will have to give out my social security number....

The company is not a scam. If you never signed up for a credit card and pay your bills on time you would not have to deal with WFNNB.

I am a former fortunoff card holder, since they have gone out of business I have been sending my payment to WFNNB . The last two months they have added late fee to my bill, the late fee is always on the 9th and payment on the 10th . I have always mail my payments to reach the bank before due date.
I call them and always their statement is it's the computer that does it and they can not do anthing about it. I been put on hold ,and no one came on the line. On Jan.25 2010 I was talking with Mr. Aldine a manager and the line went dead. I call back and got a recorder [Our hours are from 9 to 6 ]
What can I do as a consumer but report them to the BBB?

Let me tell you how upset and mad I am. This company seriously needs to be brought to court like the person above mentioned. Yes, they are handling the billing for many stores, and they have been tacking late fees on to my accounts (Ann Taylor, Limited) when I don't even owe them anything. What they do after you have not used your card for several months, then after you buy something from a store, they wait almost two months to send you a bill hoping you forget about it. Lets face it most of us wait until we get a bill and pay it at that time. Then they start tacking interest plus $25.00 dollars per month in late fees. I cought them on just another account of mine, where I made a small purchase and was waiting for my bill. Since time went by,I believe almost over a month, I'd been thinking I should have received a bill by now, I went into the store and paid my bill and complained that I did not get a statement. Sure enough, a week after I made my payment I received a bill and it was also from wonderful World Financial Network National Bank. Actually, several years ago when they took over the billing for Ann Taylor I had about a $62.00 credit balance and they never gave me the credit, it was nothing but a headache and hassle. So I am ready to take them to Court. Anyone else out there, please lets get together and do something.
very upset and angry

Thank you to the person that said the info was right at the top of super long statement. Mine was for Dress Barn. They raised the interest rate to some ridiculous level, but I only keep it so I get the coupons in the mail. :-)

WFNNB also bills for Roamans Card~clothing company. That mailing that has been discussed also notes that people will be charged $1.00 per month for a "paper" statement.
They are forcing cardholders to register on line for "online" billing. OE ELSE THEY WILL PAY..
NOW THAT IS A SCAM !!Just like the government, what next ? They will keep changing the rules and drain our wallets.

I just received a letter that they denied my credit. I never applied for this card that's why I am checking on the web what kind of company this is. They also told me that they checked my credit with Equifax credit maybe for me to call them and give them my info. Be carefull with these kind of mailings.

Hi,

As far as can be determined that Consumers suspect that the company is involved in "fraudulent credit approvals", harasses people for payments, even though the customer does not have an account, uses profanities and intentionally often mails privacy statements to customers even who does not have an account .One should not respond to their calls!!!!!!

There is not two wfnnb. It is wfnnb and wfcb we are two banks . and you would not have to pay interest and late fee's if you paid ontime. read your credit card agreement. if you dont like it... close your account!!

WFNNB is not a scam. they finance credit cards for companies like express, new york and company, victorias secret and many more. They arent a very well known bank but they handle hundreds of accounts. Many people think they are a scam for many reasons. 1. They arent well known 2. People forget to make payments on their account and it is somehow the banks fault when no its your fault. 3. When an account falls past due the collection calls start right away and dont stop until someone answers the call and makes some sort of arragment with the collector. Word of advice: if you hang up you will get a call back so it is pointless to hang up your are only screwing yourself over the collector doesnt care. They ask for personal information becuase they finance YOUR CREDIT CARD!!! If you dont know your account number then the only other way for them to look up your account is with your social security number. All calls are moniterd closely and if you dont feel comfortable get a conformation number.

I just have to say that they are not scams. People dont like credit card companies because they get late fees when they are late and it impacts their credit. They love them when they can borrow money but when it comes time to pay it back its a huge deal and the credit card companies are scams and should go to court. NO!!! Pay your bill and this wouldnt happen. And by the way when you get a collection call about the debt dont try to yell at the collector because they dont care. In fact they get off the call and laugh at you. If the consumer made their payments on time there wouldnt be penalties. When you get a cards you are agreeing to the terms and it is a LEAGAL CONTRACT PEOPLE!! Get over it. If you dont make your payments it is your fault not the banks so you get a late fee and finance charges.

Ok so it is harrassment though. These people have a leagal contract with these companies. So they have every right to call. Also they are not fake cards. Alot of people arent aware that they have a card because they sign up for it at the stor to get a discount on their merchandise but at that time the purchase is now put on their credit card. The sales associate may not make that clear but dont blame the bank blame the store. People need to quit being dumb and liisten to these people. They call becuase YES, you have a card if you feel that you dont then do background research on it

This organization has been calling a lady who I am a caregiver for and threatening her with all kind of legal action, bad credit reports, etc. She got a drug discount card through Roamans and did not use it...then called and canceled the card. They continued to bill her $10.00 a month even after cancellation. She is disabled and has cancer...the agent yelled at her over the phone and she was in tears

Oh no, that is terrible! Perhaps you could file a complaint for her with the FTC, BBB and your AG, you can easily do this online.

WFNNB does tend to assess the late fee before the payment is due. They also seem to have a lot of problems with online payments. When I couldn't access the account online to pay my bill I called them - they told me too bad - that's my problem so I mailed my payment but was assessed a late fee (because I could have paid the bill by phone). I then started receiving harassing phones (5 or 6 a day!) until they finally bullied me into making a phone payment to get "current". Then they just started taking various payments from my checking account. Since I pay them out of a small personal account separate from my family account and don't keep much money in the account (it is used mainly for when I take the kids to McDonald's or the movies, etc. because I don't usually carry cash) I ended up with huge bank fees (the bank paid everything that hit the account but charged me for the overdrafts. I called WFNNB about the unauthorized payments and was told once again that it was my problem - seems to be the stock answer to everything for them! I went to my bank and transfered money over to cover my overdraft and told them what happened. Apparently once you approve a payment over the phone it gives them carte blanche to keep submitting phone payments without further authorization from the account holder. As lone as you do actually have a balance with the credit company it is not really considered fraud. My bank closed out the account for me completely and reopened a new one because it was the only way to protect myself in the future. They also advised me to never make phone payments. Since all this mess ended up costing me several hundred dollars which I couldn't afford I am not able make my payments (which have extra fees tacked on all the time now). I have explained this to them - if they would admit to taking the payments in error the bank could reverse all the penalties but since they won't I'm still juggling things to make up the lost money. They call me several times a day (often times the same person!) and I keep explaining the situation. They repeatedly insist on my making a phone payment even though I keep telling them my bank won't honor it because they are monitoring the account to make sure nothing else slips through. This morning they called at 8am (same guy who usually calls) and after we repeated the conversation for the 3rd time in one phone call I just hung up. When I get caught up I'll be glad to pay them off but I will not sacrifice something else in order to reward the nasty, bullying, and downright dishonorable methods they use to collect debts. Times are tough financially and I will put people who can treat others with some shred of dignity and decency before those who are nothing more than bottomfeeders. I will also not purchase anything from any company that uses WFNNB for credit.

Reply = Anonymous Grandma;
Does anyone out there know if World Financial Network National Bank is behind the credit cards I recently applied for from Bealls (in Florida) and Kohl"s Department stores all over the US? As the Privacy Statement they sent me with the 800 number to opt out asked for my social security number, I assumed it was some kind of scamming company. But maybe my getting credit cards from one or both of the afore mentioned stores triggered it.

I have an Avenue credit card through this bank. So far no problems with the bank unless they are involved with the Account Assure rip off. They are also all over the web and I just received my letter saying that I have enrolled in the protection plan for my credit card. I specifically said I did not want any protection plans. I see that there are problems with this all over the internet. I intend to call Monday and cancel altho from what I've read tonight, they tell you you are cancelled and then keep billing you. So I will cancel my credit card and tell them why, and I will notify the store and tell them I don't appreciate getting screwed and will not be shopping in their store any more. And last I intend to have a little talk with the salesgirl that filled out the information for my credit card.
This is a major rip off.

My daughter and I have a credit card with Victoria Secret's that was issued from WFNNB and they are legit, they also issue cards for Maurice's, Buckle, Abercrombie & Fitch, and probably other stores. I'm just letting you know that this one is legit. We pay our Victoria Secret bill. My daughter is signed up with lifelock and they report correctly to the credit bureau no problems.

I opened a Bealls Outlet credit card in May(sponsored by WFNNB), charged articles. My first statement was fine but I was informed I would have to turn over to paperless statements. BIG MISTAKE!! The next month I never received my email statement. Charged more articles, figuring all was fine. The month following I did receive the email statement with $21 late fee.I fought it and they removed late fee of $20 claiming $1 processing fee-whatever. Paid my normal balance and they received it.I just received this month's email statement and another $21 late fee is on there for me NOT paying the previous late fee and they lowered my credit limit to $100!!Also, my phone has been ringing off the hook from several locations in different states that WFNNB has representation. What should I do?I hate to risk my credit standing for $21, but my husband says once they have you on the hook they will keep billing and billing for the $21/mo.That is part of their scam!

@Chen

It is probably the collection department of the company. Your Daugther is hiding something from you. She probably did not pay her credit card or financing. The reason they won't give you any information is because there is a LAW that forbids them to give info on a person to a third party unless having written authorisation or a copy showing you have power of attorney. Tell your daughter to call them and listen to the conversation. YOUR DAUGTHER IS HIDING STUFF FROM YOU.

I just got a letter in the mail from these guys advising me that they had rejected a credit application I had never made, for a New York and Company credit card. I called a few numbers for New York and Co. and was finally given some numbers for the World Financial Network National Bank. These are listed below in case it helps someone else.

Fraud Dept: (800) 888-1726 (don't give them your soc. sec. number - I just typed in 9 arbitrary digits)
New York & Co Corporate HQ: (got this off their Yahoo Finance page)
450 West 33rd Street, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10001
Phone: 212-884-2000

I got a notice today about revised terms to the Late Fees they charge. I checked at the top of the notice, and it refers to my credit card agreement with The Limited. They didn't ask me to call them or furnish them any information, so I think this is NOT a scam.
Remember, even if a company is legitimate, NEVER give your whole social security number, bank account number, or driver's license number to someone on the phone OR mail it to someone who writes asking you to fill out forms. If you have an account with an organization or bank, they already know your SSN and bank account numbers. If you have questions about it, call someone you know at your bank or go to your branch and discuss it with them face to face.
