Hi, Maybe someone can help me. I have spent the last 5 years rebuilding my credit from around a 400 beacon. (Divorce, bad management of money etc)I was at between 537 and 575 (something like that) depending on which Reporting Agency you looked atjust a few months ago. I even got a car loan for a NEW car in 2004. After the hurricanes and me losing my job in November, companies reported me as a late pay even though some had agreed to payments while others simply refused to work with me or even get back to me to tell me no. My point is that I was late only one month on these accounts, paid two months worth of "Minimum Due" AND they reported me as pays on time. Now my credit score has hit the ground back to 400 or so. Some of them apparently decided to put me in as a late pay of 60 - 90 days, some just 30 days BUT my credit report shows pays as agreed through December?? How can they do that? I am still paying and trying to get them all straightened out again. Is it going to take another 5 years? I have issues with RJM Acquisitions, Academy Collections and others as well but figured I would ask about this stuff later. I am so done with this whole issue-- you could stick a fork in me.

Hi Brooklyn Girl. Your score has apparently fell back down due to being late every month. If you could manage to start making your payments on time every month, it wouldn't take too long for your score to start rising again. You are 'paying as agreed' in that you haven't missed a payment but you're just late. Even though you're doing the responsible thing in calling and telling them that you'll be late, that still won't stop them from reporting you late on your credit report. So you're making your payments, you're just late in making them. And being on time, is a big part of your score, so I'm told.

I have just started working on repairing my report and I have ALOT to do. I have 'charge offs' and everything else to deal with. But I know for a fact if you can get your pay dates lined back up and get your payments in on time, you will start to see an improvement. I'm not sure how long it will take. That will be for someone else here to tell you that. But you will start to see an improvement.

Shirley

Brooklyn Girl,

Shirley has responded so nicely to you. I would just like to add few more words here.

Your creditors have reported your accounts as 60 -90 days late whereas you are late for just one month, right? Then you should speak to them and tell them to update your report accurately.

Since some of your creditors have accepted your payment plan, that is the reason they reported it as ???pays as agreed???, it means you are paying as per the new agreement. It is not a negative notion. Your score will start rising once you pay few more installments timely.

Also visit this page; it will help you to figure out some plans on how to obtain a good score-

First let me say thank you to both of you for answering me and trying to help me out. I appreciate it.

I wasn't late every month. After the hurricanes hit I was late the one month. I made up my previous payment and continued making payments. I overpay and even make multiple payments throughout the month if possible. The real part of that question is why or how can they have it show on my report as pays as agreed through December then in January put in that I am paying 60 days or more late?If I was 60 days or more late then wouldn't it be shown on the report before January? It's contradictory. Stanley understood what I was trying to say. Sorry for any confusion on my part, I am just so annoyed over this whole thing that I rattle on and my fingers can't keep up with my brain lol.

Credit companies are regulated under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) that forces them to present the consumer data in accurate shape.

You can always dispute this item directly with the credit company. After the company has received your notice of dispute information, they will investigate the matter and won't report any further negative remarks during this time. The final updates will be sent to the credit bureau.

If the creditors fail to give you the results of their investigation, you can send this dispute to the CRA explaining the failure of the credit company.

Reading your subject line, I feel that there is nothing to worry so much. I know, it involves some hard work, but you should not get turned down. The CRAs and the other agencies have the hold of our credit. If we lose heart so easily, we might give up our fight some time later. This may be bad because it's only going to affect our credit. Stay strong and take every step to retain your credit worthiness. Nothing should be compromised with your credit!!
