If you signed up for the free debt counseling session when you registered, you will be getting a phone call soon from a consultant, who will offer options for debt consolidation or settlement. Discuss your situation with them, and be sure to tell them how much you can afford to pay each month.
It would be a good idea to pull your most recent credit report from all three reporting agencies. Go to annualcreditreport.com and obtain the free copies of your report - you can do this once per year, or any time you have been denied credit. This will give you a better overall picture of your credit situation.

If your accounts are not sold to the collection agency, you can still work out payment arrangements directly with the creditor. Speak with a debt consultant about your situation. He will negotiate for a lower interest rate and waive off the late payment fees. The creditor will likely pull your file back from the collector after receiving payments from you.
