I am finding that I have the same debt reported by multiple collection agencies all within a year or so - how do I know which one to pay??? How do I get the others taken off when the debt is paid?? Thanks!

I am having this issue on my credit report. I have spoke with the most current collection agencey. They have said the bought the acct. So does this mean the collection agency that sold the acct. has to clear the collection off?

So if LVNV Funding LLC placed a collection on my credit report then passed it off to one of their many sister companies and the sister company did a hard inquiry, does the sister company need to remove their inquiry as they didn't validate or can this go though the whole spectrum of LVNV's company and they continue to pull hard inquires?
