I recieved a letter fron National Credit Adjusters saying they purchased this loan from PayDayMax. Is PayDayMax not an illegal lender?

It depends on whether the original lender is licensed in your state or not. If they are not licensed, they are illegal and you need to pay them only the principle amount borrowed. Now, since you have received a collection notice from the CA, you need to send them a DV letter within 30 days.

National Credit Adjusters contacted me about a PDL through My Cash Now which was illegal in my state so I told them the loan was illegal and I had paid the original creditor the $500.00 I had borrowed and would not be paying anymore.
