I had an ongoing loan with Advance America in Chesnee, SC for over a year. Just recently, I told them that I wanted to start making payments. I couldn't pay back the full $690 without taking $600 back. Their payment plan was too much, so I asked if there was any way that I could make lower payments. They told me to stop a payment on two checks going into this payment program, and I did this. They then said that they would call me when they got notice that the checks didn't go through and I could start coming into the store to make payments.
Well, on Thursday evening, they drafted the full $690 from my account, which I had not authorized. I called them and they said that the bank must not have stopped the payment on the checks. The bank said that they HAD stopped payment, and that Advance America simply used my checking account to draft everything. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and the bank has assured me that they will refund my money.
I wondered if anyone had any similar experiences?

Advance Americais a member of the CFSA, click the link and see: http://www.cfsa.com . This means you are eligible for an extended payment plan, click the link to read about it, number 11. http://www.cfsa.com
Looks like you are going to need to print out the guidelines they must adhere to in order to remain a member of the CFSA, take it into them, and demand they adhere to these guidelines or you will file a complaint and see that they have their membership revoked by not following the rules set forth by this organization, either that, or I would tell them they need to take their sign down in thoer store which states they are members because that is false advertising and bordering on the edge of fraud.
