I sent a debt validation letter to Frontier Financial by CMRRR. The post office website shows it was delivered on Friday. Today I get a call from Sam at CFG concerning the same PDL loan to LoanPointUSA.

I asked him what happened to Frontier Financial and he stammered and then I asked for his mailing address and he in turn got his "supervisor" on the phone. She hammered left and right and asked why I would want their address and I said I wanted to send them a letter and she said, "If it's a validation letter I can do that by phone." I said no, I want it sent in the mail. She said that a LEGAL validation letter doesn't have to tell me anything except what I owe, my address, my SSN and LoanPoint's name.

She said that she could email me that info and I again said no, I want a letter. She wants to know how I'm going to repay the loan and I said, "Again, I need to see validation of the debt because I do not believe it's legitimate".

Needless to say, they wouldn't give me their address. I told her I wasn't going to argue with her and I hung up the phone. So now what do I do? The phone number they called from was 260-220-8190. I live in Indiana and this area code is also from somewhere in Indiana, but when Frontier called last month they were located in Nevada.

Have they passed me off to a different Collection Agency or are they affiliated? I don't know what to do now. Can anyone advise me? Thank you!

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!

You have done the right thing by asking them to send the debt validation letter to you. Debt validation can't be done on phone. Check out the following page to know about proper debt validation:

I would have suggested you to send a Cease and Desist letter if you had their address. This seems to be a case of scam. Don't pay any money to them unless you get a proper debt validation letter from them. I would advise you to contact your original creditor about this issue. Your creditor can tell you whether this account has really been passed to different collection agency.

i wouldn't call the original creditor on this as loanpoint is an illegal lender, and they won't be honest with you.a search turned up nothing real.the number was most likely spoofed.next time they call state you will not speak to them again until you get something in writing.btw what the idoit deemed LEGAL validation was just a collection letter.let me look further and see if FFG,and CFG are in fact affiliated.hang tight.

I would NEVER contact an original creditor for an illegal payday loan once the account was given to collections. They would be able to capture your phone number with caller i.d. and harass you to death. If the creditor won't sent you validation, then just hang up on them. They know they have no legal standing.
