I live in NC and took out several PDL's due to loss of income. Now, they are harrassing me at work and threatening me w/ fraud charges using my social security number and wage levy. What can actually happen to me if i can't pay them back? Help! Need answers before i do another stupid thing such as this! !!!

Give us the names of your lenders. How much did you borrow from each and how much did you repay before you defaulted?

It's likely your lenders were unlicensed/illegal anyway and these are idle threats.

if you got them online, more than likely they are not legal. If

if you got them online, more than likely they are not legal. If they are storefront, they are and you need to make arrangements with them. If you don't want your credit marked up, make arrangements with the online lenders to pay your principle and make your own schedule. If you can only pay 50 bucks a month, then that's what they will get. If they won't make arrangements with you, ignore them and eventually they will go away. Most of these places are either operating without a license in your state, or overseas. Either way, if this is the case, they cannot and will not sue you.
