Can I consolidate payday loans without turning them over to a collection agency? I don't have any defaults, but I'm not making any progress, just paying about $600 a month in interest.

I just signed up with Town and Country Acceptance in Alabama. I don't think we are allowed to post their information here- so go here for their information.

http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listings.jsp?STYPE=S&search=Find+It&SRC=&channelId=&sessionId=&MCBP=true&CS=L&C=town+and+country+acceptance&L=alabama&searchbutton.x=0&searchbutton.y=0

I just signed up with them- and until this upcoming Friday I am current (I closed my bank account so on Friday I will be considered in default). Get your account started with T&C right away- that way you are ready to handle the collection calls. T&C has been really nice- Brook and Melissa are so sweet. It's a reasonable start up fee and I think they should be able to help most people. They work quickly too. They have already sent out my offer letters to some of my PDL's. When you contact them- have your account information ready- like the names of all the PDL's you owe and the amounts. use the search bar here to find addresses and phone numbers too.

Good luck!

I'm writing in regards to a situation I
have found myself in. My father passed away early February, he lived in
Arizona. Having just moved to a new residence I found myself with no money
to get to AZ from CT. So I took out 2 payday short term loans to cover
this. It was an extremely stupid decision on my part. Since then I've
taken out multiple other ones to get by and pay for the finance fees of the
others. I get paid $444.50 weekly which is directly deposited into my
checking account. With all the fees and other things I'm left with nothing.
I have no where to go for help, things are spiraling out of control and the
stress is killing me. If anyone could help, I'd be extremely grateful.

I had 17 payday loans so I went with Langhorne debt solutions. I feel this was my best option as they contact all payday loan companies, I did not have to deal with harrassing phone calls, emails, etc. I did not have them contacting my work, family or friends, and this is all because Langhorne knows who and how to contact these companies to stop them in their tracks. Yes, they charge a fee but it is well worth peace of mind and the ability to concentrate on work and other things without the harassment of these companies and $0 left out of each pay check. I encourage anyone who does not have the time or resources to deal with these companies to give Langhorne a try. You can see on these posts that it takes many hours to contact and deal with these people. I want to thank Dennis, Michele, Ana, Mimi and Jay at Langhorne for all they have done for me.

One more thing, they settle your debt for less than you owe not consolidate it.

To relate a personal experience; I turned to a company for assistance on my PDL's. I paid them a 'retainer' if you will; plus monthly fees. There was a savings plan associated with it. For my pdl's they were able to get the companies to accept the principal amount (original loan amount) as payment in full. Had I known of this site; I feel confident in stating that I could have handled my own negotiations and saved money !!!!!!!

Imedina44 & others: most peeps on the site have had their own experiences with payday loans. It is standard question to ask who you owe; how much you loaned for & how much you have paid them already.
The reason being, the old timers here know which PDL's are hard
**** & which ones you can negotiate with. Please list the info I asked for so we can help you.

I live in Minnesota. I currently have 4 payday loans out that total $850. I am currently paying $510 in payday loan fees a month. What are some of my options??? Also, I don't think the interest rate they charge in MN is legal.

I'm not an 'expert' on the 'laws' that PDL's are suppose to follow, but..i CAN tell ya this. When I had to make arrangements on PDL's, they seem "more than willing" to help ( yea, right). NOT telling me they STILL charged % on the arrangements ( even HIGHER %, it seemed, from the 'originally agreement'). You may look into the 'fine print' of the PDL you have and see if you can get information that way. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. However....there are ALOT of 'experts' on this forum..I'm sure they can be of more help.

I, too, am in desperate need to do something about these payday loans. I have some that are in the store and some that are on-line. Can I consolidate both together? Is there a minimum amount owed to qualify?

From everything that I read, I can not consolidate the loans unless I default, but I work for the bank where they are taking out the payments. Is there anything I can do other than default to consolidate the loans?
