Now, I dont know if there is even really any recourse in this situation, as I keep seeing so many people who are plagued by these calls, but if there is, Im in Florida, could someone point me in the right direction? I can handle belligerent Creditors, but this is way over the line to me and frankly Im pissed that this jackass would call my place of work and speak to me in this manner.
Thanks all, as usual!

The same guy just called me at work again saying he was from the Crime Bureau of Investigation. As soon as I asked him for his name and address and questioned the name 'Crime Bureau of Investigation' he hung up. Two minutes later a woman called. They are complete idiots and so predictable!

My daughter has been harrassed by these scanners since before Christmas & they have now started calling her work. She applied for a PDL but never collected the money. Somehow, they mananged two bank transaction withdrawals, one for $99 & another for over $600. Now, they're saying she still owes $4000 (late fees & whatever added on). Got her scared s**tless. What they didn't count on, was my wife calling on our daughter's behalf. Let it just suffice to say, she got red-neck n them! I think the guy may have been crying when she was finished with him. I know I was...from laughing!
Although I don't recommend this for everyone, it does give a level f satisfaction.

Can your wife red-neck on my behalf. That could be an entire new line of business, seriously.

I've been reading -- and learning and laughing -- the messages in this thread with great interest. Someone here apparently had our phone number before it was assigned to us and we get calls for him all the time. First was from a local pharmacy where we don't have any prescriptions; finally got those stopped after they gave us a name and we confirmed we don't know said person and that he never has lived here to our knowledge.
Next was from group called "Police Protection" that was trying to solicit money for the children of fallen police officers. Whether it was legit or not, I told the guy that the person he was trying to reach -- same as the one with the pharmacy -- did not live here, was unknown to us, and asked him not to call again. He then tried to get me to make "a donation." Not on your life! After I told him, politely, "No" twice, he abruptly hung up on me.
But now, we've gotten three calls from this "Dept of Law and Investigation" group. They're using different numbers that aren't on the list posted above; at least one was 970-984-8940 (which, oddly, referenced a town and state where a friend does live!). And "Officer Walter" -- with an accent as thick as a centuries-old redwood tree -- was once again asking for this same person. But, before calling him back, I thought I'd do a little searching on the 'Net, and boy, am I glad that I did!
There is NO WAY that I'm giving this wiggler a call. It would be VERY hard to keep a civil tongue in my head if I talked with anyone.
Now, if someone has tips on dealing with Jamaican scammers, I'd love to be pointed to some good information. I'm trying to deal with the influence these "people" (and I use that term VERY loosely) have had on my elderly mother for the last two years, and I can use all the ammo (figuratively speaking; knowledge is ammo in these cases!) I can get.
Thanks again for the great info!
