I have yet to get any phone calls from my friends at the pdl places, kinda looking forward to them..is this bad? I am sure the calls will roll in today, but no emails no nothing.....

is it bad that i am looking forward to their calls? i guess i am looking forward to them cause now i have the knowledge about what i legally owe them. and i am only going to pay what i legally owe them and not a dime more :-) and most of these payday loans will be paid off in a month. and i am in the process of writing my letters

It's not bad at all . . . . It's much better then being scared of them! They will try to use fear and intimidation to get you to pay immediatly, and much more then you really owe.

Since you are expecting them and know what they will try to say you are prepared and can deal with them no problem!

pammy - the worst they can (and will) do is call and harrass you, unless you have a wage assignment agreement with them. If you have a wage assignment agreement with them, you need to revoke it immediately in order to keep them from garnishing your wages. THAT would be the worst they could do, in that case, and it would be devastating to your paycheck.

Payday lenders are notorious for their phone calls to your work, home, relatives, etc., in an attempt to get their money. And when you block their access to your money by closing your bank account, they will up their efforts. You can expect several calls a day.

By the way, how much have you paid on each loan so far?

A wage assignment letter is one where you give the PDL authorization to garnish your wages should you default--and obviously it's one you should never sign. In my experience with PDL's, the only companies I have dealt with that use them are Sonic and the ones related to Sonic: Cashtransfer Centers and Northway Debit. I'm sure there are more out there.

Okay.. Well, I haven't defaulted, just sent a revised "polly" settlement letter. Telling them they were illegal, stop taking money from me, threatend with complaint to AG, demanded refund, gave them til monday to respond by email only (so I had more refrence to give the AG). So i guess they cant "garnish" wages yet since I havent defaulted.

CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT! And did you include a voluntary wage revokation statement in your letter? I don't think DMS has a voluntary wage garnishment in their contracts though. And don't say you are going to file a complaint with the AG's office, actually file a complaint with the AG's office, I'm telling from experience with DMS, that they will respond to the AG's inquiry, and you are more likely to get your PIF letter that way. File the complaint.
