Getting collection calls on Highland payday loan - help!
Date: Tue, 03/12/2013 - 13:19
I took out a payday loan from Highland Holdings LLC/Midland. They solicited me, I can't find them anywhere online. I borrowed 200 and was supposed to pay back $260, I paid back over $700. In January I revoked ACH and wage garnishment (using letter in the forum sticky) but they withdraw another $60 from my account. I notified my bank and they put a stop pay so nothing can be withdrawn. The next email I got from them was notification that they'd sent my account to a collector. I responded by filing complaints with Oklahoma Consumer Credit department and the FTC, again using the letters sticky in this forum. Today I got a call from a collector, CDR in Buffalo, NY, saying I owe $350 and if i don't pay or make arrangements to pay within 72 hours they "have" to tack on an additonal $250 in fees and they can garnish wages. Help! I've never had this happen in the past with illegal lenders. The only info I can find for Highland Holdings/Midland online is this:
May be an offshore entity located in Charlestown, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Has anyone dealt with them or know for sure that they are illegal? I don't know what to do, I've already overpaid so much I don't want to pay more, but I don't know what to do now. Thank you!

If you have revoked voluntary
If you have revoked voluntary wage assignment, they cannot garnish your wages so they are handing you a pile of BS!!! Stay off the phone, send them a cease and desist letter telling them to bug off, they are collecting on an illegal loan.
