I just got an email from Eastside Lenders telling me I was approved for a $300 loan. I clicked on the loan documents to see what the hell was going on, and there is all my new banking info.

See, I still owe them $80. They agreed to settle with me and I haven't paid them back yet. I'm terrified now! I responded to their email and told them I did NOT solicit this loan and to remove my data from their system.

How in the world did they get this info. I've been so careful since opening this new account to not give the information out. I haven't applied for a loan, nor will I ever again.

Does anyone have a fax number for these people. I do at home...I want to fax them a copy of my email as well.

Sorry to ramble on. I'm in panick mode now!

I found this on the BBB site...I not sure which is which, but you should recognize the addy.

Ok, this is real scary. I myself am fighting with Eastside Lenders right now on a $450 loan I have paid $337.50 on and owe $157.50. I spoke to them at the end of Sept and they said I owed $562.50 total to settle with them. I told them I live in Florida and gave them the laws on PDL's and of course they said they were in Delaware and go by their laws, blah, blah. I never heard back from them until the end of last week. Now it's someone else that says I owe $725 now. And she spouted of the Delaware thingy again. I haven't answered her on that one yet. But this is pretty scary that they are finding new account information and taking money from them. I have been lucky so far with my bank that anything that has come through they are refusing for me. I even had UsFastcash send a check through and it bounced cause I didn't have the money in there. I e-mailed my bank and they said if it happens again (to put a stop pay on a check they have to have the actual check number) all I have to do is fill out a form and fax it to them and they will have the money back into my account by end of day. This just sucks cause you pretty much have to watch your account 24/7 to make sure one of these idiots hasn't tried to get money. All of this PDL crap is such a headache. I've gotten so many e-mails (I even got a text message this morning) saying I'm approved for a loan and I just delete all of them. I'm never, ever going to get into this crap again. I'm just hoping it doesn't take me the rest of my life to get straightened out. I've only got two that are legit CashnetUsa and PaydayOne. I had worked out a payment plan with Cashnet, but I wasn't able to pay yesterday so I'm waiting for them to start raising cain. I just don't have the money right now to pay them. I haven't even talked to PaydayOne lately. I tried to get them to work with me on payments when I can get caught up and they refused to work with me.

Thanks roxy, that helps! I appreciate it!

Goudah, yes I do write checks and my auto insurance is automatically debited from my checking account. I'm thinking of not even opening a new account. I can use my future hubby's if I need to, I guess. It will be easier done that way, than this headache!!!

Okay, this is just a theory.

When you write checks at retailers, they normally run that check through some sort of software to make sure you don't have a history of bouncing checks. Most commonly SCAN or telecheck.

CL Verify - The database compiler that payday loan companies use compiles data from SCAN and Chexsystems.

Chexsystems - If you open an account at a bank that checks this report, and inquiry will show on the report.

So, CL Verify can show the payday loan company several things. It would show them what bank you opened an account at if it was a chex using bank. Also, since it compiles information from SCAN, it's possible some of your check information is included. This information is only available to businesses, so I don't know how much they actually show the business, or what the business sees, but I would guess that they would get enough information to either debit your account with your ss# (some bank will allow a business to do so with a signed contract), or possibly got the actual account information. That's just my guess at this point, it's hard to say exactly how they got the info without a bunch more information.

I agree with you Goudah..I think anytime you write a check your information is kept somewhere. No matter how safe a website or business claims to be...there will always be people who have knowledge of this information and will to sell it. There are lots of websites that have your information on it..I found mine on a website last week..things I thought I had never disclosed...it's amazing!

It's just so frustrating! You know? I think I cleardd myself of the mess I got into and out of the blue, it starts up all over again. I already spoke to my boyfriend and I'm going to close out my account at the bank and deposit my money into his account. I may as well since I already have his checkbood and ATM card!

man, our money just isnt safe anymore. no matter where you put it. its sad that we have to resort to putting 'our' money in other people's bank accounts just so we can live off of it. at this rate, im going to open an account in my kids name and put my money there. or open a safe deposit box and hide it there. sheesh.....

Seriously, it is not that huge of a problem. Think of this - In the last 6 months alone, probably at least 400 people have come here with payday loan problems. 6 have had new accounts hit. Less then 2%. It does not happen all that often. I've had my pdl's cleared up for almost 2 years, and none of my new accounts have been hit. Many other people can say the same thing.

animah..the site was Intelius (one of many).. you put a name in there and find addresses..etc. If you pay $$ you can find out other information. Apparently all this is public information but to see it all listed together is really scary. They even had my deceased husband's name..and records on him. You learn something new everyday.

Goudah..it's true that maybe just a few people have their accounts hit up like this..but I had my account hit my a completely different type of company. They listed themselves as market research and try to take 110 dollars from my account. They had no connection with any of my IPDL's...just tried to get my money. My bank took care of it and I filed papers on fraud..but this was very strange.

ald, my friend, you are not alone. I'm going between my thread and your thread. Exact same situation (well, except I didn't get a loan approval from Eastside). However, $400 was debited from my new account. The only connection I can make is with Eastside Lenders. I, like you, have my car insurance automatically deducted, and I also write checks at stores sometimes. Not a lot, but sometimes. ald, we need to hold hands because I'm scared too. I'm so sick. I want to not open a new account out of total fear. However, I don't know how to function without an account.

This is just such a sickening situation. It seems that this is happening more often too. I do agree with Goudah that it's a small percentage of these PDLs that attempt to do this, but it's very disturbing nonetheless. Personally, I don't keep very much money in my checking account anymore for this reason. I just don't feel it's safe.

Do not fear opening a new account. Hell, if this continues, you could absolutly sue this company. You would have proof that they are continually "stalking" your bank accounts. It could be a very interesting and precedent setting case. Something a lawyer may be willing to take on contingency instead of you paying an upfront fee . . . .

I guess it would be considered 'stalking your bank accounts'. Honestly. It's freaky. I guess I shouldn't be afraid to open a new account. But it just really freaks me out that is has been THIS LONG and this happens now. Really weird. It's been MONTHS.

Up until today, I've only seen posts regarding Geneva Roth debiting new accounts. Now today it seems as though Eastside had a "field day" over the weekend and hit at least myself and ald on Monday.

Cannr- thats the weird thing. They didn't take any of my money. They approved me for another loan. Why the H-E double hockey sticks would they "approve" me when I OWE them $80? But there it was, clear as day on the loan documents. They had my new address, bank, routing number, and account number. Even though I moved, I never changed my PO Box, yet they have my new home address. I didn't notify ANYBODY except the utilities/car insurance that I moved. I haven't even changed my drivers license yet.

OMG! That's even spookier! How do they find that information? Do you think people are "selling" our information somehow? Now that Eastside has your information (crap!), please be extremely cautious. They know where you are, your new bank information, etc. This is unreal. Is there an "inside" person working somewhere? I'm scared to death just knowing this creepy man said he can tell me ANYTHING about me just by giving him my name. Let alone having something pop up on my computer with all my "new" information on it. I swear to God, this is like border-line stalking. Ald, I am so sorry.

I was just telling my kiddo what happened today and she brought up something. I had financed her class ring. That is the only time I had used my information anywhere since I got my new bank account and moved. I'm thinking that could be it.

Then I had to reassure her that it wasn't her fault. Poor kid.

Oh, poor thing! That probably wasn't even it. Some slimy moron got our information. I'm convinced there's "something out there" (sounds like a spooky movie) that checks databases and we were nabbed by the slimy morons. Eastside must have been on a mission this weekend, ald. We just were the lucky ones.

Huh. I did order checks from someone. Who was it? Deluxe? I just checked the box and the name isn't on there. How did you find this out, ladybug? Now I'm curious. Because I did order checks rather than getting them from the bank because it was cheaper. Maybe now I'm paying the price for doing that.
