Hello. I am new to this forum and actually have just stumbled on it. I have signed up with a company called PDL assistance inc. they do debt settlement for payday loans, which I have several of. I was curious if anyone else has had dealing with them.

max welcome!! You can google PDL assistance name in the search box at the top of the page to see any posts with them in it. Also plese check them out with the BBB to see if any one has filed any complaints against them. Good luck....

Welcome! I've never heard of PDL assistance but maybe someone here has and can offer some info.

Did you check them out with the BBB?

I just wondered if any one else had used pdl assistance . I could not find anything about them on the forums. But found some shoddy things reported in the Rip off report. It says that despite enrolling for debt settlement with PDL Assistance, payday loan companies continued debiting the debtor's account. And when the debtor wanted a refund of the fees given, they didn't oblige.

Some of them are illegal. The guy at pdl assistance told me which ones they new were not legal and said they were taking care of the legal ones first

Does any one know how likely these payday loan companies are to settle?

Max if you tell us who you have loans with, how much you borrowed, how much you have paid back to each. Add principle and fees to get one total paid to each, what state you are in. we can help you here.

These guys at pdl assistance seem very "anti-payday loans" so far they have really taken the pressure off of me. I got a call from them friday saying they were starting to negotiate with cash net usa. Just wondering what kind of settlement to expect

cash net usa is legal. With the illegal ones if you have already paid back in total what you owe, you are done with them.

I looked pdl assistance up on the bbb. They have no complaints although they have been around about 6 months or so. I also looked up langehorne debt solutions and it said " Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to unanswered complaint(s)." I actually hear both companies are good though. With these facts i suggest you shop with both and see who if more polite , professional , and compare the differences in fees. I would imagine they are similar to each other though.

Hello all, my name is Jen, nice to meet you all...
I don't know if anyone here can help me or not. I took out 3 payday loans, and can't afford to pay back the loans with interest.
I live in Indiana and the loans are as follows:
The Loan Shop = $300
UpFront Payday = $500
500 Fast Cas = $300
I signed up for PDL Assistance, but would prefer to take care of it on my own.. I've already closed the checking account on PDL Assistance's suggestion. Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated. Thank you so very much!!!
Jen

I called PDL assistance and the 3 different people I spoke with told me that I would not have to close my account. this really bothers me now. I see what everyone here is saying, but now I fear there will not be enough time to close the account and have mine and DH direct deposit changed in time. I think I am all backwards about this now. Now I am really stressed out. Unfortunatly have have some other bill that come out on the 10th when I am paid that are not PDL's I can see if I can move those around. I just do not want to be in a sistuation where I can not get any of my money out of the bank because of ACH debits coming in a million times and NFS fees for when they do hit and try to take out the full amounts.

srjanes , PDL Assistance is technically correct. What they can tell you to do if you don`t want to close out the account is what is called a Hard Hold on your account. You would need to go into your bank and speak with the Branch MGR there to make that happen . That will stop any and all ACH drafts from these PDL companys. You technically don`t have to change or close out the account but it is still a good idea.

Yep that is what I am doing now. Went bank into the bank today. They told me that their ACH blocks would work but it would not protect me against drafted paper checks. Oh well, I guess starting over will not be a bad thing. she did say however that once the account is closed I would not he hit for any NSF fees because it is offically closed, it will not be forced to reopen. So I have have 3 things pending right now and they should clear by Thursday. The unfortunate thing is I should have opened a new account a few days ago because now it is too late to get my direct deposit set up with my HR. I did talk to them today and they are going to send me a check in the mail. But the are in VA and I am in MI. Guess I have to wait a few days for that.

What a mess.

WOW I am so sorry to hear this is going on. A lil advice hear, the best way to handle these PDLs, and most would agree is too "CLOSE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT". If you do it ahead of time everything works out and you have control over your money. Unfortunately, the "HARD BLOCKS" and whatever else they call it sometimes may not work. It is better to just close your account and open a new one in another bank completely to escape these loan sharks! If they still retrieve your account info then that is a BIG mystery to me, but it is also a LAW SUIT!! Best of Luck to you.

I have a question about these payday loans.. I found some information from www.indianajustic.org. It give pretty detailed information about payday loans and what is and is not allowed. However, it does not state if it applies only to storefront loans. Do the same laws apply for internet loans? Or do they get to pick which state's laws to follow?
Thanks!
Jen

I have gotten myself so far in pdl's I cant catch up. MY husband has no idea what I have done, because I thought I could get a handle on them, but I just got deeper in debt. My Credit is already shot. I am in a serious state of serious depression. I just want to get out of debt for once in my life before I die. I am not strong right now. Is there anyone out there that knows who can help me put them all together and pay them off that way? :( :?

Hi all,
I feel like I'm making a nuisance of myself. I am hoping someone can help me here. Maybe I'm going about this wrong. I am trying to find out how I can deal with the problems of my 3 pay day loans. I'm a single, working mother, and it's near impossible to make ends meet. I want to fix my situation and put my son and I in a position where I don't have worry how far I can stretch my measly $30 for groceries. It's all very overwhelming. I would love to learn how to take back control of my life and lose the stress that is making me sick. Any suggestions would be fantastic.
Jen

Hello guest , we need you to post the following info to be able to assist you.

1. List the companies you have the loans with and whether it is a store front operation or an internet operation.

2. List the original amount of the loan for each account

3. List what you have paid so far for each loan.

4. List what state you currently reside in.

:D

Jen,
I too am a single mother that got involved with the PDL nightmare. It is totally possible to get back control of your finances but you have to be strong, or at least pretend that you are. these people prey on the weak and they try and break you. Most of them are operating illegally so you have the upper had. Don't let them intimidate you or push you around. Read through the posts here and follow the steps outlined. Before you know it you will be on your way to financial freedom. You are not alone and there are so many people here to support and guide you. If you want specifics you can PM me and I will tell you exactly what I did. Keep smiling, you are in control!

I would try and settle on your own if you want to save more money.
Langhorn debt solutions , PDL Assistance and any other Pay day loan settlement companys charge basically around the same fees. By the time you pay their fees you wend up paying back 70%-90% of the original debt. But the do stop the cycle of ludicrous interest.

PDL Assistance or Langhorne or any other pdl settlement company will work with you to establish a savings program that will be used to pay off your debts over a period of usually 6 to 12 months. Both PDL Assistance and Langhorne hold the money in another account so they make sure you don`t spend it when you need to be saving it to use to eventually settle with the pay day loan companys. You will have one monthly payment and the amount you will pay back is typically between 30% and 60% of the amount owed when you joined the program. These companies have bills to pay just like you so yes they charge some fees up front and it could take 60-90 days sometimes for your first settlement. You will save more money doing this on your own and this site has all the info you need if you want to try and do that. But if you don`t want to deal with the hassle of settling on your own you may want to hire a company like PDL Assistance or Langhorne to help you but expect it to take a little longer to rid your self of the debt because you will pay some fees to these companies who do all the dirty work for you. Hope this helps

I live in Maryland and I have 7 or 8 payday loans! I enrolled in Langehorne and my initial contact person was nice but my client services rep was aliitle short and rude. So I called PDL, so far so good, I just paid my enrollment fee and my 1st monthly payment is due on the 13th of this month... I hope I am doing the right thing... I felt TRAPPED and needed help. What makes some of them legal vs illegal- mine are all internet.

Darkcoco126 - All my loans were internet also. Just my opinion ..say your money. Try and get a refund from PDL Assistance. I was going to use them but after I discovered I had already overpaid on most I my loans I decided to do it on my own with the great advice I received here. I am no expert you have to do what is right for you. On the loans that I had not paid the legal amount I owed I sent letters stating why I only owed them X amount and they all said ok once you pay your account will be marked paid in full.

You see when you use one of those companies you are paying back fee that you should not be. You are also paying for the service. And it still does nnot mean the loan companies will not harass you. List your loans here and let everyone know what state you are from. There are many people here who are more than willing to help you. I can understand being afraid of the loan companies harassing you. I was, and I had 2 of my loans sent to collections. By the way they were both way overpaid. The collection company is now returning the loans back to the loan companies becuase I overpaid. It is hard work and will take time and patience, but the results are far better doing it on your own, not to mention much more cheaper.

Just my opinion.

I signed up with PDL assistance as I have 4 PDL's currently. They are charging me $200 set up fee and $131 to pay off my PDL's over the next 12 months. I finally did the math...the total is $1772. I have closed my bank acct and these PDL's have defaulted. I called Think Cash and Advance America and have made payment arrangements with no problem. I have two more that I need to call and make payment arrangements with. The total I will pay doing this myself is $1459...I will save $313..I think that is worth the effort. PDL assistance has my old bank account info so they will not get my money if I can do this myself. I will be PDL debt free in 3 months!

I live in arkansas and i have 5 pdls. i am due to pay my fee to pdl assistance in one week. they advised me as they did others to close my bank account. i dont want to sound repetitive, but i am scared. i have read that the only time they ( the pdl companys) can take legal action, is if a check is returned on a closed account. is this true? my loans are internet. i am a single mom and i am just keeping my head above water. my loans are with: BIG, ameriloan, a2bcash, pdl loan center, and oneclickcash. i borrowed 200 and have paid bak infull BIG, 200 ameriloan and have paid back, 200 from a2bcash and have paid it back, 250 from the loan center have paid back, and 300 from oneclickcash and i hav about 90 left to pay them back. i need help on what to do.

I also have 5 loans out there totalling over $2200 and am a single mom. Should I close my current checking account since they are all internet loans and open a new one? I guess I would just have my direct deposit sent to my savings and then I could transfer MY money to the new checking to pay my bills. I would then talk to each company and pay through money orders or cashiers check. Am I going about this the right way?

I am barely qualified to give any advice here. Just signed up with PDL assistance--its worth the money to me, not to have to deal with all of this. I owe almost 4000. The first advice I was given was to close the bank account asap. Most of the weight was lifted immediately when I did that. I'm not worried because there are no checks. But they do call me at work, and this is a problem. Sorry I can't offer advise on how to do this yourself-but it does appear others in this forum can. Good luck--I hope everything turns out ok.
