Yeh! Roxette had also been largely attached with this forum since the beginning. Don't know where she is now but she will be happier to read this thread and being remembered by us. I was new in this forum when she visited here last.

That could be true. It could be a combination of things. I have small debts that I'm working on. Nothing that needs immediate attention, nor am I getting collection calls.
Before, when I was doing finance for an insurance company, I was able to devote a LARGE amount of my time towards this site. This could of been the reason they didn't keep me around. I lost my accounts, and was nothing but the internet all day. My manager, and his manager were aruging over whether or not to keep me. Alas, I lost my job.
Now, I have a high stress job, but have managed to find small tidbits of time to come around. I'm assuming that is what happend to Roxette. She has found either a new project to work on, or a new job.
I wish I could a job that allowed me to stay online all day. That would get semi-dull though.

Mike

well thats true---But like me, I came into this group needing major help (and still need it from time to time) but once things started making more sense to me with my finances and I learned how to respond to collection agencies, I started trying to help others. you know, putting back in for whats been done for me. I believe thats what keeps this group going. People putting back in for what they got out. Roxette was a BIG BIG help to me. She answered my very first post here, and shes the reason I came back. she helped me, made me feel comfortable and calmed me down MANY times when I needed calming down. she definitely knew her stuff!! She will surely be missed!!!!! Roxette, if you're reading this....A BIG THANKYOU for everything you've done for me!!!!!!! you're awesome! We miss ya!!! hugs, shirley

Granted there are some times that I feel the same repetitive things are going on. Ted Crosby for instance. That should have been one 3 page thread, and that's it. I also wish Virginia Legal Defense would have stuck around. I do see some new topics being posted, new faces coming around, and missing people.
Is Jesse still posting new topics in the pub? What have you been up to Ari?
I never did hear anything back about that "meet up". The whole west coast-east coast, let's meet up at an amusement park ordeal? What ever happened to that. I'm still down to travel to Ohio, by the way.

Thank you 'justme'..I'm glad I posted it =)
Okay--stanley is a dear friend of mine and he said that once I got back into the swing of things, that if I felt like it, I should talk about everything that was going on with me, just so you all would know. First off, for those of you that don't know me, or know very little about me, I have a 20 year old daughter that lives with me that has Bipolar Disorder. This is a handful in itself. Since May, she has been hospitalized twice for it. I ran myself crazy, running back and forth to the hospital during visiting hours. I went everytime they would let me. THere was also counciling involved that I had to go to that with her while she was in the hospital. Then when they released her, she did EVERYDAY outpatient for three weeks. she doesn't drive and its about 25 miles from here so I was having to drive her back and forth every day--7 days a week. no weekends off. When she was finished, we had to find a new counciler and support groups. again with her not driving, I had to take her everywhere. she doesn't drive due to her disorder and heavy anxiety.
By the time things settle down with her...my 28 year old son that also lives with me, went into drug rehab for cocaine. He was in there for 30 days. there was visitation four times a week and I was there every time the doors were open. The sessions were three and four hour ordeals. But the way they had it set up, There was counciling FIRST, then you got to visit afterwards. so if you thought you were going to show up JUST for the visitation and get out of the counciling, you had another thing coming. you went through the counciling or don't bother coming. we did this four times a week. weekends were spent up there. It was 30 miles from where we live. we went crazy going back and forth. and with my daughter just getting out of the hospital herself, she was right there with us. I know what you're thinking---30 days?? for drug rehab?? well, he has no job and no insurance so we had to find a place that would take him regardless and for FREE. the only program I found was this 30 day one. It was worth a shot. so when he got out, it was support groups and NA meetings for him as well. I have been running around like crazy!
my father in law had a heart attack and we spent alot of time going to the hospital with that. My dog got sick and I thought we were going to lose him but he pulled through...just something else to worry about and an enormous vet bill!! Hubby has been going to the dentist for a three part root canal, and about the time they get ready to put the crown on, he broke the tooth so they had to pull it out. root canal for nothing!! so you see, its been one thing after another! My daughter still has alot of ups and downs. those of you who have family members that have bipolar, YOU KNOW!! My son, went right back to using. so this is whats been going on with me!
and the good news?? I'm still paying debts and collection agencies off. even with root canals, vet bills and hospital bills--and my tv going out and my microwave blowing up--I DID NOT acquire any more debt. and i'm still moving in a forward direction.
this was kinda personal, hope you all don't mind. But I know some of you have wondered where I have been....and now you know 'the rest of the story'...lol shirley

Can't speak for Ari, but I do not think that was directed exclusively at the guests. Personally, some of the regular guests are my favorite people!
You have to understand that this website gets a lot of traffic, and my pm box and email is full daily, as I am sure that Ari's is.
Some people think that I have this magic bullet ability to make a PDL that they took out yesterday, which they have paid nothing on magically disappear. I can't do that, and I won't do that. It is frustrating to say the least, and the individuals are not always a guest...
Peace,
Polly

Well said polly. I think that Ari meant more that when the same question is asked over and over and over is when it gets old. Sometimes "guests" and new members need to spend a little time searching because the google search works great. I'm sure Ari didn't mean to offend anyone and neither do I.

Why thank you Sue. How are you this morning?
I do not get as frustrated at answering the same question. I cannot blame a new person on the site for not knowing where to find the answers. This site is quite large, and sometimes I find parts of it that I didn't know existed.
My frustration lies with what I stated above.
What I accomplished today
I took charge today. My credit union did not want to lose me so they have put a stop to all the pdls from accessing my account. I then contacted the Division of Financial Institutions in my state they informed me I did the right thing and in Ohio they can not criminally prosecute for a pdl. I then filed complaints with the Attorney General's Office and I will be assigned a mediator who will work with me on settling this matter with the pdls fairly. Also found out that none of the internet pdls I have are licensed in my state. Thanks to all of you I'm back in control! If not for this site I would not have learned my rights and who to contact and probably would've spent the next couple of years living in fear of these crooks. Interestingly enough both government agencies I spoke with were not aware that these internet pdls were conducting business here.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
In charge again
I also have an appointment this week with my credit union's credit counselor who is going to work with me and help with budgeting and saving for future emergencies so I don't end up in this mess again.

Pollyandsay I've learned alot from you. I am also a single mom, I have two children with significant disabilities and I know what a struggle it is and I read some of your blogs. I've been there when I thought my life could not get worse and then it does. But I truly believe that I keep going through these things for a reason and eventually the solution(s) will show themselves. You have alot to share and it is because of you I felt empowered to take charge. I spend all weekend practically addicted to this site and abosorbing all the info. which helped me take charge today. THANK YOU

Wow Amy thank you for those kind words. We are almost in the same shoes. Fortunately my children do not have any health issues or disabilities. That has to make your job as Mom that much harder. You have all of my respect my friend.

I would vote for you
I would vote for you, your skeletons couldn't be any worse than anyother politician's out there. My problem is I don't know how to "pay myself first". I should never have gotten into this situation to begin with, but it started with my divorce 6 years ago, no child support and with two kids with high medical bills, it wasn't until a month ago that I finally started to get help with those costs. My whole payday ordeal started this spring when my son who is deaf had hearing aid implant surgery to hear again and I had to cover the left over costs for the aids ($15,000 a piece!) I'll let you know how to save when the counselor shares the secret with me this week!

I honestly don't know how mom's with "normal" children do it. This is my "normal", has been for nearly 15 years, so I don't know life any other way. I was a single mom even when I was married if you know what I mean. I'm about to finish nursing school, and there is another student who is in worse shape than me, I am going to give her this link and encourage her to sign up, I think she'll see she's not alone and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I bet that hearing surgery was worth every penny!
I guess I am realistic. I am single. I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 birds, and 1 hamster. I have a mortgage, and student loans.
There is just simply not enough money in my check to save. So unless she is advising on how to invest a portion for a very short period with a high return...I am not going to hold my breath. I budget down to the last damn penny already.

I'm the same way. I actually got a raise, increased my monthly income by $160, but because of all these pdls I'm not seeing it yet. Yes, the surgery was worth every penny, my used to be able to hear until one day 2 yrs ago he came home deaf, hasn't heard a sound until last week when they finally attatched the aids. Found out he has the same inherited disorder as my oldest but it has laid dormant for 13 years and is causing different issues than with my other son. My son caught a virus which triggered the problems to arise. Caused permenant nerve damage to his cochlear nerves which no longer function and the damage is permenant. But that is the direction that was intended for us and we just accept it and go on and do what we have to do.

Sue I had a 10 dollar savings account for months. Not too long ago I had no gas, no change, no pop cans to return (my state has a 10 cent deposit-love it!), and payday was 2 days away. Gas was at 3.19 that day. I walked in there and closed it!lol Desperate times call for desperate measures!

I agree with the statement of the repeated questions. While we all have horrible experiences, the key is to know that you are not alone. In that regard, just take a few minutes to look and see if your question has been asked before. The "Search" feature here is very good - take time to use it. You may find your answer with never having to say at word.
However, don't think that means you can't be a part of the fun. If you find your answer, great. Now, register and tell us your experience so that your story can be added for the NEXT person that searches and finds this forum. And feel free to add if you see something you may know the answer.
This all started with one person, but it doesn't end there. Be an active part and help others.
