Does anyone hired settlement services from superiorbedt.com or curadebts.com? Are you reccomend anyone of them?

Wagner,

I am working with Superior Debt Services as my settlement company. I have been with them since March and I find them very professional and courteous. I make one monthly payment to them and that's it. It does hurt your credit while you are on the program but they do pay for credit repair at the end of the program. Consolidation was not the right option for me because I strongly wanted to be out of debt in less than eighteen months. My creditors now know I am with this program and the phone calls have stopped at home. There should be some settlements on my accounts soon. I'm sure others can give you different points of view as well.

PaydayLoanAvenger, how long did it take for the calls to stop? I signed up with SDS about 6 weeks ago, making the first payment to them tomorrow, a week early, and the calls from my creditors have not stopped, in fact they have increased. 4 today so far, 5 yesterday and 2 on the 4th of July. SDS is telling us they won't talk to the creditors until we have made them 3 payments, but I don't think the companies are going to wait that long. They are getting belligerent and very pushy.

All lenders cannot be rated in the same way. Some of them use aggressive collections while a few understand the explanations put by you. You have to assure them about taking care of the accounts through professional help. They may not be willing to work with your settlement company in the beginning but ultimately, if they want to get their payments, they will accept the proposals. Besides, they need the assurance from you that you won't default in your payments this time. Things can get better after the consultant has taken control of the situation.

mini,

The calls stopped after I changed all my information to what was provided in the packet by Superior Debt Services. Some continued to call until after my third month in the program. I had some that would call non-stop and it drove me crazy. Make sure you let your debt counselor know who the calls are coming from and return phone numbers. They will log everything.

Thanks for the reply, Payday. I have been logging the calls to send to SDS. One company is determined to get money out of me no matter what, or drive me mad with the calls. They have called me 3 times today, so far. I'm expecting another call within the next 20 minutes. Thank goodness for caller ID!

Andy, that's my problem. I have told them numerous times that I am working with SDS, and they will get paid, but some of the reps don't want to hear that. I was just wondering, if after a time the calls stop or drop to a minimum.

Thanks for the answers guys!

Are they good? I just signed up for a free consultation and they were assigned to me. I have multiple payday loans that are overdrawing my account BIG TIMe and I'm totally stressed.

I have heard a lot about Superior debt relief. Talk with the counselor and know how he frames out your payment options. Remember to have your contract in writing before you sign up with them. Understand all the terms and conditions carefully and if you have any queries, get it cleared with your consultant. You might find some other positive feedbacks about Superior Debt in this forum. They are said to be good.

Do they only do settlement? I need a good consolidation company. When I signed up for this site, Coleman Law was assigned to me. I thought their payments were too high. I would love to have a referal to a good consolidation company. You can never be too sure if they are actually good or not, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard pretty good thing about Freedom Debt. They are run by some highly intelligent people, but the settlement process is not going to change very much b/w companies. I am in general pretty skeptical of companies that offer only one service or another. Besides that, per my friend's interpretation, it seems that Freedom Debt has some of the most stringent ethical standards and up-front cautionary remarks on the market. As far as curadebt is concerned, it seems as though the company is run by a gentleman without a lot of background in finance. Although they may do a good job, I tend to believe that education should count for something. Hope that helps.

John

I've been with SDS since Feb 07, I started off settleing with 3 companies. Bank Of America was willing to work with me on a settlement, so I'll just pay them for 6 mos, and I'm done. Lowes and Citi Finanancial weren't willing to work with me and they called me for about 3 months straight, I keep on telling them I'm going through SDS. Once SDS sends them the Power of Attourney the calls stop. THey are a good company to work with so far, I should be debt free in March 08.

Hi Mishele

This is Mary Ann. I have not posted in a long time. I am also with Superior. I am not happy. I just requested cancellation of my association with them. I have been with them since Oct 06 & they have done nothing. I still get threatening calls. I am also requesting they return my fees. I may go with sixfpert or just file bankruptcy. The phone calls are now threatening to take me to court.

Seems there is some confusion about companies here, which can happen with so many out there. Some posts on this thread are referring to Superior Debt Services, while still others are referring to Superior debt relief. I think there is also reference to SuperiorDebt.com ???, which is possibly yet another company. Make sure you know which company is being discussed. If there is a question, it might help to ask the poster.

Cheryl, are you answering the phone when the creditor/collector calls? If you are not, it is not technically considered a call unless you answer.
Next, I'm sure SDS gave you a little pitch, but here is one we tell our clients that really help!

"I am going through financial dificulties. I do not have any money and am considering several different options, but I do not know what I am going to do, so I will be meeting with an attorney soon and when I discover what my decision is, I will let you know."

Creditor/Collectors have a bullet response sheet in front of them to respond to anything.
"I don't have any money" - You can't give them any money so you can't do anything for them right now. No, not even $20. Living off of peanut butter and jelly and Ramen noodles.
"I don't know what to do" "meeting with an attorney" - This throws a little red flag up in their minds, if you are planning to meet with an attorney for BK, they are burnt. "Going to be meeting with... " shows that it is a future event. If they say how are you going to pay for an attorney, tell them the attorney has free consultation...

If they continue to ask you questions, just tell them you have already explained your position and are on your way to an appointment and have to go. Then hang up.

There's no law saying you have to talk to anyone.

There was a comment on here that I saw about Freedom debt relief - I am a client, and it is just about over and I have really liked almost everyone that I talk to there. I call them almost every month, and they are honest and straight forward. Most of my settlements were good and saved me a bunch, but one of them went to a law firm but they still saved me a lot of money. Anyway, that is my 2 cents, that I like Freedom Debt Relief.
