Sorry, I am having troubles with this board. The block of info to the left is covering up part of the message and reply screen. This is what I wanted to post.
It's not that T & C won't work with Dell; Dell will not work with T & C or ANY debt management program. Dell will not accept any debt management proposals to lower your interest rates or your monthly payment.
As I said in the other thread, if a debt management company tells you they "work" with Dell, all that means is that they will make the same minimum payment you are making now, with no reduction in interest, from the money you send to the debt management company each month. AND they'll charge you a fee for doing so. So you will actually spend more money paying off Dell through a debt management program.
Your best bet is to not include Dell in your DM program and do your best to pay them off yourself as quickly as you can. You can also try calling Dell and negotiate a lower interest rate with them.

Of course you can still join T & C, I am just saying that Dell won't lower your interest rate or except a lower minimum payment.

What good does it to call them? Will they REALLY lower the rate? I thought once the rate was set that was it. If they do, what is it that you should say to get this done?
Thks...

well either way if i had no program, and just sending in min. it would be over 600.00 and something dollars total and would take a life time and my program to last with t & c is 40 months as I CAN DO THAT STANDING ON MY HEAD at 40 months with 484.00 pymt , but i sure hope this is a fixed price rate that T & C gave me what DO YOU THINK or can t & c come back and change the price rate of 484.00 x 40 months since NOW I HEAR DELL WONT WORK WITH T & C which makes me mad cause t & c oh they will gladly accept them with no problems and that includes home depot and crap -1

Sorry to tell you, but yes, T & C can come back and change the rate. When you sign up with a DM program, they give you their best estimate of what your payments will be based on how up to date the info you gave them is and what concessions the individual creditors are known to generally grant (most creditors have programs in place that a debt management company can look up electronically, that is how they know how much the creditor will lower your percentage rate and minimum payment). It's not uncommon for your payment to have to be adjusted once you are in the program by a few dollars. I was quoted $499 a month with Money Management Intl, that went up by $10. No big deal.
Expect your actual payment as opposed to the quoted payment to go up a little bit and budget for that.
As for what good it will do to call Dell on your own, I don't know that it will. It's just that they have a policy to automatically refuse proposals from debt management companies.
If you don't include them in the DM program and pay them off yourself, and call them and explain your hardship, they might lower your interest a bit. It's harder to say no to a customer than to a DM agency.
But they may still not lower your interest.
I plan to call them in the next week or so, I'll let you know how it goes. I am currently paying 29.99% on $1100 worth of debt with Dell.

There is a member on this site that has been to hell and back with Dell and she stated that Dell told her that it is better to go to a collection agency, because then a collection agency is easier to make arrangements with. When I find the thread, I will post a link to it and you will understand what I am saying.
