I've started to receive collection notices from Asset Acceptance about a supposed debt I incurred with WFNNB/Samuels. I believe the trade name is Zales Jewelers or Samuels Jewelers? The collection notice is stating that the date was 1991. In the first place I have never been to a Zales (or Samuels) jewelers, let alone purchase anything from them. So, I made a call to Asset Acceptance, and asked them to provide some information. I then told them I have never made a purchase there, and requested validation. I received another collection notice today, and all the validation they provided was the principal, interest/fees, and balance. Needless to say that made me a little angry, so I called them back, and stated that they needed to do a little better than that as far as validation goes. Then they proceed to tell me that's all the validation they need, and then hung up on me! (I was quite angry at that time). Anyway, I found the form letter that is posted in your forum, and it is getting mailed in the morning. Any more advice you can provide? At this point i'm really aggrevated. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Welcome to the forum, Jim! You're on the right track. If you send a debt validation request via certified mail, and confirm that the letter was delivered and signed for, then the rest is up to Asset Acceptance. This situation sounds pretty dodgy to me. So, if they don't send you written validation of the debt, then that should be that. Have you checked your credit reports recently to see if Asset Acceptance have made any inquiries or if there is any account information? It might be worth doing this.
If Asset Acceptance do not provide you with a written debt validation and have made inquiries on your credit reports and or reported on an account, I think you can dispute this with the credit bureaus and have the disputed info. removed.

Woo hoo! I just wanted to say thank you to whom ever posted that validation letter! I got a reply from Asset Acceptance today, and boy did that shut them the hell up! (Sorry for the language, but i'm a happy camper!) The letter stated that the account is closed, no longer handled by them, and is being taken off my credit report! And a big thanks to Tiffany99 for the quick response. And if I knew how to donate some points to you (Tiffany99) I would be more than happy to do so!

okay sent validation request, they sent me a internal statement rather then valitation..sent them another demand after 30 days, still nothing. They finally stopped calling me after 3 letters demanding they stop.
Question is, after 60 days and 2 requests for validation and no response...how do I get it removed from the credit reports?
