CAs are calling me night and day. Many of my cc accounts are due any day now and some have not received payments for 5 months. I am working with a debt consolodation company but they won't be able to contact these companies until the latter part of next week, after my deadlines pass, probably. I'm afraid they will send me to the next step, whatever that is, and then my debt consolodation efforts will be in vain. All these CAs tell me they don't work with these services, but the lady at CCCS told me they do. What should I say to them when they call. Lately, I just don't answer when I see a 8oo# in caller id. Any suggestions?

Take their calls otherwise, they will sound more aggressive. Tell them that you want to get something in writing first. It is your legal right to ask for the debt info. If they say they don't have to send anything in writing, send them with a debt validation letter. Send it through certified mail with return receipt requested. This is first legal move from your side, keep the receipt in safe place. After receiving your letter, they will need to provide you the info before doing further collections. Anyways, check with your state laws on recording phone calls. Most states allow recording of phone calls secretly. You can record their threats and intimidating calls and tell that you are visiting an attorney for filing a case against them on charges of FDCPA violations.

This way, you will steal some time from the CA and let CCCS begin their negotiations when you both think right.
