nfcc/bbb

I am currently seeking a counseling/dmp company. On nfcc.org, I am offered only to call a CCCS office in my area as theya re a member of nfcc. I looked them up on BBB and they are not a member that I can find anyway. Does this make them not legit? Is nfcc helpful? I need to find a company quickly that can help me. The one that I was referred to from here I decided not to go with.
Anyone work with CCCS anywhere? Are they all the same company from state to state? Anyone heard of MM/CCCS?

Who referred you to NFCC? They are government-endorsed for credit counseling and will likely do a great job for you.

I was told to check the nfcc website for local or state dmp/counseling services. So I checked out the website and in my area it brought about 7 differnt CCCS offices. It also offered free online counseling from the website as well. I was just concerned that the cccs places in my state aren't members of bbb. So is it safe to assume that if a company is a member of nfcc that it's a legit company? Finding a companies that seem legit has been a hard search.

A company registered with the BBB shows that they follow the guidelines put by the BBB standards. That makes one to be a legitimate company. But there can be consumer complaints against any company in the long run even if they are the members. Best way to check for this company is to go to your state attorney general's office and look for the consumer feedbacks on them. You will know if the company resolved any complaints with the customers that were filed against them. You can also check for their licensing info with the Dept of Corp. Licensed companies are much easier to be tracked and can be taken to the court in case of dispute.
