What can I do about these phone calls? I do not know who allied interstate is. I owe no bills, as I pay my credit cards off monthly.

Like Pinklady says, the collector has to give you written information about the debt that you owe. Most of the times, allied interstate contacts the wrong person during collections. They have done this with many people here. If you are sure of not being behind in any of the accounts, because of which this agency is hired, send them a letter to cease and desist all communications with you. They do have to abide by the federal laws mentioned in the FDCPA.

A collector has permissible purpose to pull credit whether you give permission or not.He is covered if he can prove he is collecting on your account. Now some theories have been thrown out there that they can't put info on report until first communication has been established. I have not seen caselaw on it enough to comment. If they do report then you have two avenues to work with them.Wait and see if they violate fdcpa and fcra. If they do,you now have leverage to get rid of account.
