What constitutes debt validation?

Can anyone give a clear explaination of what a company should send to prove they own the debt. I requested debt validation through CACH and the law firm that they are using to sue me. Haven't recieved anything yet.

The information that we received back from the lawyer regarding Beneficial had some original loan papers with it but a bunch of stuff was blacked out. They also included a payment history but it only went up to December. I will definately check this link out.

I have been reading caselaw till my eyes bleed and I still have not found a legal definitive answer yet! :cry: :cry: I will have to bang the head against the wall some more because I want the legally accepted definition of it! :shock:

That is one of the questions I am going to ask my lawyer tomorrow. I've read where old statements don't count as debt validation. I've also read that just identifying the original creditor does. It's kind of confusing to me.
