I would dispute the transaction with the bank. I know companies can and so charge fees for bounced checks, but I'm not sure how they go about collecting them. I wouldn't think they could just make a check up with your account info and send it through, but I could be wrong.
money taken out eletronically without permission
thank-you I called my bank and they say I should call the check care place and see if they will refund my money-I think that someone at the bank had to ok this beccause I didn't give the check care place a check number to withdraw from my account and don't see how this is legal?
Businesses that have your account number can produce paper check
Businesses that have your account number can produce paper checks with the info on it and send it through. Say that you call a business and want to make a payment over the phone by check. They do the same thing. Banks can't tell if you authorized the business to produce the check or not.
I would tell the bank again that you didn't authorize this, and ask to fill out a dispute form. They cannot make you go after the business for the money, you didn't authorize the check. It's thier problem until the business proves that it had authoriztion.
