Which debt management company are you referring? You haven't given the name of the DMP company.

You better a do a little shopping before zeroing down to a certain DMP company.
Here are some checklists: -
1. Get the BBB report of a dmp company and check its rating.
2. Browse through ripoff report and look out for complaints against it.
3. Browse through various debt-related forums and read consumer feedback.

I do not know of this company personally. I do not know if you have approached them through any reference or just generally. However if they are not charging an upfront fee, hear them out and see how they operate. Otherwise the above post has given some good suggestions.
