I have been using debt management out of florida for almost 3 yrs and im wondering if i can just pay my bills on my own with the plan already in place?I was told I would lose my depo that i made when i first signed up.Like i really trust that i will get that money back. Some of the numbers just dont add up and im told i need to update them. Why do i pay them money then? That's 29.95 i pay just to have them pay my bills. If i go on my own can i still keep the same agreement as long as im paying on time?

If you are unhappy with the company your with, you can absolutley do things on your own. before you cancel your agreement, however, call each of your creditors and ask them if they will work out the same deal with you as they did with your debt management company, most of them will. the real advantage of a debt management company is that they deal with the creditors for you...but if you are willing to put in the calls yourself, you souldnt have any problems. check out the DIY section of this site for additional resources if needed...good luck

If you can get the CC companies to go along with the deal that the DMP company put in place, then by all means go ahead. My guess is that most of them won't. Many DMP companies are funded by CC companies so it is in their best interest to keep you in the DMP program. Many DMP contracts state that if you stop the program, your accounts will go back to their original agreement.
