I originally signed up with Credit Cure / United Christian Financial in July of 2005 as a credit management client. Unfortunately, in February of 2006 the company went bankrupt. The new company Richard A. Brennan, now known as Frederick Law Group, took over the acct. I did not find out that this company even had my acct. until August of 2006 though. This law group is a credit settlement company and I apparently misunderstand the difference between settlement and management. I say this because during those six months (February to August of 2006) the settlement company continued to make monthly payments to my creditors. I in turn saw that they (Richard Brennan / Frederick Law Group) were doing the job that I originally designated to Credit Cure and signed a contract with them. It wasn’t until I signed the contract with them in August of ’06 that the company quit making payments. The company now has roughly $5855.00 of my money. Even with this money they have not done what they’re supposed to do – pay the creditor.
In addition, the company has not been able to give me a statement showing exactly how much money is in the acct. in order to negotiate with the infuriated creditors. I actually have a local magistrate’s hearing on Friday, November 9, 2007, regarding the Bank of America acct. I put into consolidation. My paralegal, Dustin Harkness, sent me an email stating that he would negotiate with Bank of America creditors. He sent me an email stating that Bank of America would settle at $2300.00. I responded by telling him to settle several times. I received another email regarding the same matter and he countered for $1900.00 after I specifically told him to settle! During this month (October 2007) the Frederick Law Group has undergone training and now moving and there have not been any answers to any of the questions I’m longing to hear.
Also, the Frederick Law Group double withdrew my acct. totaling $900.00 on October 30, 2007. As soon as I saw this pending in my acct. I immediately called the bank and told them to stop it, but they said they couldn’t, that they had to wait until it posted. They then tried to take another $450.00 payment out on November 1, 2007. All of these drafts have caused major overdraft & Non-Sufficient Funds fees to be placed onto my personal bank acct. Although I knew other items would be coming out of my bank acct., I placed no additional money into the acct. in fear that they would get a hold of that as well. Moreover, my paycheck from the school district is directly deposited. So when it was deposited on Friday, November 2, 2007, it put a slight dent in the amt. owed back to the bank, but I’m still at a negative balance. There are no phone numbers that are working at this company, supposedly because of a move-in-progress. There is also no response to any of my emails that I’ve persistently been sending to the company.
Furthermore, after filing against Richard A. Brennan / Frederick Law Group with the Maryland State Attorney General’s Office (the state in which the company is located) and seeking my own information via the internet, I came to find that there is a possibility of a class action lawsuit against this company for taking funds out of their client’s personal accounts to pay their own debts. This information was found on a Maryland’s news site called the Daily Board. Additionally, the office of Maryland’s State Attorney General denied my case because I’m not a resident of Maryland. I have therefore, filed with the Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s Office.

Your situation sounds exactally like mine!! I've had the same situation for the same amount of time. Here it's 2009 and I started all this in 2006! Thought I"d be out of debt by now! I've been waiting to hear from someone now for over 2 months!! I call and leave messages and email my paralegal and still nothing! I also started with Dustin Harkness at the Brennen Law Group an now I'm on my 3rd one since him and still nothing is settled! There has to be a way to get this resolved and make them pay for all the nerve racking they have caused! I'ts soooo unfair!! I could of been doing better myself if I'd just kept my 3 creditor's the way I was doing myself!

I have tried calling them and their phone numbers are disconnected. I am in need of some help with the situation that I am in with the Fredicklaw group. I need to talk to someone about this whole situation. I had signed a contract with Fredrick Lawgroup. and They made me feel confident that they were a reputable Lawfrim. I really would like to know what is really going with Frederick Law group myself. I tried to call and the number was disconnected. I have sent several emails, but no response from anyone at all. I have been dealing with these people for a long while and I have not seen any results as far my creditors being paid. Can you anyone suggest any action that I can take against these people. I'm not seeing nothing accomplished here at all.

I have been trying since January to get a balance on our account and get a refund of all monies. Auto response on email is that Dustin is no longer employed and they will be contacting clients via phone, email or mail. Yes, there was a class action suit and FLG lost. We are awaiting the distribution of the funds, probably enough to a happy meal after the law firm gets their portion. Best advise: contact your local consumer credit counseling office. They are legit and can do much of the same as FLG and their counterparts; for a monthly fee. Also, some bankruptcy attorneys will negotiate for you; they sometimes have a free consultation.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I am filing a complaint with the Maryland Att. Generals office. Just like all of the other emails state I to cannot get any type of responce with these people. I have settled most of my accounts on my own. I would encourage others to do the same. I have found that most of the people that I have contacted are more then willing to work with you. I do not know how to start a class action law suit, but I intend to learn. I will be in touch.

Is Jeff Formulak still behind Brennan? Jeff was the president of the infamous Ameridebt, when Ameridebt went under Jeff started Credicure, and when Non-profit CCCS were under attack Jeff "sold" the business to a lawyer front man.

People these lawyers are all fronts, behind them sits the real crooks. They have changed names so many times because they need new lawyer names to run their scam under. Call a local CCCS if you really need help, or do it all yourself.

Less than 10% of consumers ever get help from these debt companies. They charge fees upfront because they know after 6 months most people realize they are being scammed

Trust me, i have been a part of the top of the food chain and know the non-lawyer crooks who really run the show, they dont care to help anyone just themselves. I am not involved in the debt field anymore but i can tell not much has changed, same scammers just new front men for their scams

All of these lawyer groups are not real lawyers, $7 an hour employees follow scripts designed to get your money, its the biggest scam out there any why so many debt companies are under investigation by state attorney generals and the FTC.

If you sign up with a debt company tell them they can get paid at the end, when they actually save you money, if they stand behind their service theyll agree to being paid when debts are settled instead of monthly service fees and enrollment fees.

Also as an FYI, the value of a debt settlement client to these companies is about $5K. so they make on average $5,000 in fees from every person who enrolls. Basically they steal $5,000 from you in the form of a $500 enrollment fee, $50 a month service fee, and then a 15-25% fee of what they save you. If you want to get out of debt, just start a debt settlement company, after 5 customers most people should be debt free.

I am just now realizing the terrible state that my credit is now in! I tried for months to get a statement just to see how much I paid in and what I have to work with and I never got a result. I am now being sued by a credit card that hasn't been paid on since 2005. I joined the group to help my credit and get my bills paid faster and not to just pay the minimum payment.. Now my credit is completely screwed! Can I still contact the Attorney General of Maryland?
