If you settle a debt with a CA. Can they sell the amount
left over to another CA or is there a way to keep them
from trying to sell it again. thanks for the info.

Anna have you read this forum at all???? This happens all the time.

You can stop them from doing this but you can safeguard yourself. Make sure before you settle you get a settlement offer letter. Then, pay your settlement with a check or bank money order. Payment must match the letter. Once everything is paid, make a copy of the paid check or order a copy of the paid money order (A money order receipt is NOT proof that the debt has been paid.) Staple together and put in a safe place. If the CA sells off your remaining debt, you have concrete proof that you have settled the matter.

Hey soaplady how do you get a copy of money order. When I get them
at walmart they only give you a reciept. What did you mean by proof
of payment, is that sending payment CMRR or is their something different. I was also wondering what do you do if they credit the settlement payment as just a regular payment and keep calling you for
more money. Can you resend settlement letter informing them "paid in
full" Thanks from Forrest. :)
