There are many debt settlement companies out there who can settle your debt but first make it sure that the company qualifies the following points: -

1. Is the settlement company registered with a reputed accreditation agency like BBB or D&B or any Industry Trade association of national level?
2. Is the debt settlement company bonded or insured?
3. Does the concerned debt settlement company holds money in any account controlled by itself? If so then avoid it because the trust account is meant to be either the consumer's own savings account or with a third party.
4. Do they provide customer education of financial management either through their website or by taking classes?

FIA has offered me a settlement on my debt with Bank of America at a much lower pay off. They claim to be part of B of A. Are they legit and would it be wise to settle the credit card debt with them.

Are you settling yourself with FIA or through a debt settlement company? Also, do you have all the money upfront? i have 2 FIA accounts, so i am very curious.
