Nova Debt Scam:
Anyone hear of nova debt consolidation? Is it a scam?

They were much better when they were Garden State Credit Counseling. Tried recently to apply with Nova Debt twice and got no response to my application, and I applied twice. They also did not reply to email. After being ignored six times in two months, I will take my business elsewhere and advise others to do the same.

I haven't had experience with them, but when I called Bank of America to negotiate my interest rate they transferred me to someone at Nova Debt to discuss options. I talked to the Nova Debt Consolidation lady for 30 minutes. They are a non profit agency and will tell you ways to help yourself before going into debt consolidation.
I believe they are legit or Bank of America wouldn't be online with them. The lady told me if you use their services there is a $50 per month fee. If you are in a situation where you can't pay your bills, I think they would be worth looking into.

Nova Debt Scam:
If you use nova debt or any other debt relief, the banks offering credit of any type view this as bad if not worse than bankruptcy it stays on your credit report for 7yrs after your last payment. Better to claim chapter 7 bannkruptcy and wipe all debt out.

Thats not true. It will show up on your credit report that you are in a DMP until you complete the program. Once completed it comes off your credit report as if you were never in the program. Bankruptcy should be your absolute last option. Besides under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 , If you can afford do a DMP payment you most likely won't even qualify for CH 7 Bankruptcy anyways.

I have been with novadebt for 3 years and I can see an end to my debt. I know where my monthly payment is going. They send you an itemized statement every month. I have referred other clients to them and they appreciate me giving them their number. I am going to be out of debt in less then 1 year. It feels reallly good. I'm not getting the calls and letters in the mail. Novadebt saved my credit. Thank you.

I was referred to Nova by Chase and Bank of America just reasonable. They have worked well will me on a fixed income with trying to give me the best option out of my hardship. Before, I contacted them I did talk to most of my creditors to see if they would be willing to help me out by lowing the interest rates and also talk to them about hardship plans/settlement plans. After talking to the creditors I called Nova debt and the counselor took all the information in to consideration. The counselor then gave me and option of keeping one low credit card and consolidating the other cards to one amount manage by them. They charged a one time fee of $50 for the services and $25 fee included in the payment plan. When I finished working with them I noticed that they had saved me from making anymore large payment to one card company and not that amount itself covers all my credit card debt. I am so thankful for the Angel God send down to assist me in this stressful time

Last week I received a call from Bank of America telling me that my APR had been raised to 29% and they referred me a called Novadebt. Dose anyone have any experience with them good or bad? Also to make a long story short I am axp $38k. in debt mostly credit card debt and was wondering if a company like Novadebt is a good option or if I should sell off my 401K and just pay it back latter.

Any ideas you have would help.

It's never a good option to borrow from your 401k with taxes and penalties, not to mention, you're eventually going to want to retire and none of us are getting any younger. I've been working with Novadebt for a couple of years and they've really helped me straighten out my finances. Not only did their debt management program help me consolidate, they also provided me tools and education on managing my money so that once I'm out of debt I'll stay that way. 2 years in, 2 to go and I already have made significant headway on my debt, I've built up a respectable savings for emergencies, and am starting to plan to purchase a home. I even still call my original counselor with any questions I have! Couldn't be more pleased with the service.

I was referred to another company by one of my credit cards. Yes, one of eight I was in over my head They seemed like they didn't know anything and did not give me any confidence. So I did my own research and found Nova Debt. I talked to a representative for about four hours the first time and they were awesome. They lowered my interest stopped calls and I can see where my money goes and it is not $50/mo it is $6 with an one time initial starting fee of $50 that you get back after a year if you have not missed or been late on any payments. It really is the best company I have talked to and it isn't a scam nor is it detrimental to your credit, I check mine every three months and while they show they are not reflected as negative and my credit has actually gotten better. I only had credit cards but I know they cover a wide variety of finical issues.

Actually, it does not show for seven years after it is paid off, not sure who told you this. It shows on your credit report that you are using a consumer counseling service, but you still have accounts with your original credit card companies and they show up as being paid. I know I am a customer. Once it is done, all accounts are showed paid in full and then your credit score is no longer effected. It is saving us over $100,000 in interest if we had just kept paying our accounts, and we are fulfilling our committments and paying off our problem. Debt Management is definitely a better option than bankruptcy, creditors are more willing to lend money to someone who paid off their debt even if at a reduced interest rate than someone who wiped it out with bankruptcy. However, if you cannot make a minimum payment with Debt Management, then bankruptcy might be the only option.

they're at times hard to get a hold of and don't get back to your right away and not at all when you email them. and the proposal they sent in to bank of america got rejected, which is weird because B of A recommended them to me. B of A said the proposal did not follow certain guidelines. so i'm waiting to see if the new proposal will be accepted.

I was referred to Novadebt by Chase bank in 2006. We put 11 credit cards totalling $60,000 into the program. We have now paid down 60% of this and now owe about $24000with another year and a half left to go. The monthly payment is $1300. While that is steep, we were paying a lot more than that before Novadebt, and most of that went to interest and we would never have paid off anything. Novadebt is legit and you creditors are likely to work with them. When I got into the program, they were working with Bank of America, Citibank, Chase, USAA, MBNA, Sears, Dillards, and some others.

Many years ago Novadebt helped me to quickly pay off all my credit card debt. After my divorce when I ran into financial trouble again, I was on the phone to Novadebt in a flash. I am almost done paying off the debt. They also have a great mortgage help program for those interested as the banks (who we bailed out) are offering programs that benefit themselves and don't actually help the homeowners.

I have been with ND for about 7 months now. They are sooo understanding and accomodating. One month I had to pay my bill 5 days late and they still paid all my bills for me when they were due. Kind of like THEY lended me the money. It was great. My husband and I were in over our heads. We were doing fine and then all of the sudden all SEVEN of our credit cards TRIPLED our interest rates so that they were almost 30%! We couldn't manage the minimums anymore. So we got in contact with Novadebt. We were about 65,000 in debt. After 7 months we're now about 54,000. It's an amazing feeling knowing that we will eventually be out of debt. Don't get me wrong....it's hard living without credit cards, but it's worth it.

The people at nova debt are very nice and polite. The problem is that none of the people i spoke with had to really and i mean really survive on their own . They have been brought up with having money from parents or brothers ,sisters. They think that if you don't have the money in hand you should not buy it . That would be great if the world was a fairy tale ! Try walking to work when its 30 below zero or raining out without any protection . Try starting a buisness with no money . Its easy to give advice or read something ,untill you live it you should not tell others how to change . Starting a buisness with less than nothing seams impossible to those who haven't done it. Being in buisness there are alot of ups and downs and as good as you think your planning for the downs you better double that ! Self employement is totaly different from an 8 to 5 job collecting a pay check, it's a 24 7 days a week life style. For those who have money its the ability to make others work for you and make moneyfor you as you keep them under your thumb and tell them how important they are as you pay them min. Wage or just above as you collect $50.00 per hr or better. The rich get richer and the poor keep getting kicked around. How many people have gotten their homes back after a forecloser ? Where is the federal bail out money going ? Who's money is funding the bail out ? And what are we doing about ? Nothing!!!!! When are the people of the "united states" become united and make the changes happen ? The answer is never.

They are deffinately not a scam!! These people are legit the best people in the world, Ive been there for 3 years, like 9 maxed out creditcards after i turned 18, and i only have 1 left with 1200 bucks on it, its unreal. they take care of everything for you with the cards you have and u pick a payment u can afford to pay every month and MAKE your credit card companies agree with it pretty much. Good luck to you, hope this helped :)

Nova Debt is owned by Bank of America. Bank of America raises the rates on credit cards and when you call them to tell them you can't make the higher payments, they refer you to Nova Debt without telling that they are transferring you from one pocket to the other.

I think it's pretty underhanded to raise the interest rates in the first place and even more underhanded to direct you to another of their companies that charges you an extra $50 per month to straighten out the mess they caused in the first place.

I have been with novadebt for almost 3 years and I can see that it really works. I am on a 4year program and happily can say it will be done in about a year from now. Novadebt information was givin to me by chase bank and I am sure a bank wouldn't be sending me to a faulty place to have my debt consolidated.

Novadebt is a reputable (BBB) organization as has been posted previously. Additionally, I am currently under consolidation with them and have found them to be kind, knowledgeable and understanding. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of such services.

It seems to be alright. It was recommended to us from Capitol One when we were having a bit of trouble with mounting debts. It is much less than Budget Right Debt Management which we tried earlier.

I have been with Nova Debt for over 3 years, i have had a few issues with them paying my creditors late, and a couple years ago when the interest rates went way down, they refused to re negotiate the rates, so i am now looking into finding a new company to reduce the rates and payment...one that will make sure the creditorss are paid on time and my credit and balance is protected.
