i had a debt on my credit and when i contacted them they said that palisades now has it so i called them and im now making payment arrangements but now hearing all this bad stuff about this company did i do the right thing

I don't think you did anything wrong. You called up your original creditor and found out that they have assigned the account to Palisades. Now you've made payment arrangement with them.
