Yesterday I went around and around with Northway Financial aka cash transfer centers. They garnished my husbands check yesterday. When I was on a three way call with employer and a woman from Northway I asked the questions about them not being licensed in Oregon. I also ask if they were licensed in the US, because I was under the impression that they were not licensed either place. She told me and my husbands employer that since the loan took place over the internet, that they did not have to abide by my states laws. Is this true, because reading other post on here I thought they had to go by the laws of the state that I reside in. Can someone please answer these questions for me. I thought I know what I was talking about, but maybe not. They also did this after I revoked the voluntary wage assignment.

Yes they do have to abide by the laws in your state, and once you revoked a voluntary wage assignemnt and have notified the employer of such and can prove that you did, then the employer can be held responsible for this money....You need to contact the AG in your state or go to paydayloaninfo.org to check out your laws and who you file complaints too...What state are you in???? PS-voluntray wage assignments are usually only legal if signed in person and notorized

Thye told my husband they had his digital signature, and his employer said it looks just like his signature. I don't understand that. This was all done online. It was not done in person, or noterized. We are in Oregon.

Ok here is what I have found out for you:
Regardless of where the internet lender says it is located, it is subject to your states credit servies(paydayinfo.org)
Oregon wants your complaints sent to:
Oregon Dept of Consumer and Business Services
350 Winter St NE rm 410
Salem, OR 97301
Phone 503-378-4141
Fax: 503-947-7862(if you go to paydayloaninfo.org and click on your state you can file the complaint there...it has a link!)
Also there is a law in Oregon that states that except for tax debt a voluntary wage assignment is not legal(ORS 292-045-070)--still looking up the particulars on this law but wanted to get back with you asap!

Definately go to the Oregon AG on this one. You need to get your money back! Also, I am in California and know that Sonic was kicked out of my state last year. Sonic is an offshore place with offices in Canada and Malta and is one of the worst ones out there. They have alot of DBA's and I know CTC is one of them.
