I just recently got them to approve my payoff amount and they have agreed to take everything off my credit within 30 days. But, they didn't have anything in writing that would say that once I pay this payoff amount I will have a paid in full by the creditor and that they will take it off credit as promised. I was told well the phone call is recorded so this should be good enough. What do you suggest?? should I contact the creditor and send them a letter stating that I have heard from the collection agency and they have said you approved the amount and it will be deemed paid in full once they receive payment. Can you give me something in writing??

Yes. Don't pay a penny otherwise.

You shouldn't pay before you get a written document. However, even if they don't update the report as "Paid in full", a "Settled" status will have a better impact on your credit report instead of an unpaid debt.
