On 12-2-10 I was 74 days late. I spoke with citi today and they said my account had been sent out and they could not help me. It was sent out on day 112. They gave me a number for account recovery to call and the automated service said it was with a law firm. Is this a mental game they are playing? I do not need the additional stress right now as my world is upside down the way it is.

When your account is assigned to a law firm, Citi won't negotiate with you directly. But even if they sue you, you can move to compel arbitration, since Citi has an arbitration clause in their agreements. This may be enough to get you a decent settlement. If you're depressed/stressed out for an extended period, you may want to consider a SSRI for a very good chance to get your emotional life back.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if this is still a citi debt or if they sold it at day 112? The reason I called them on 1-21-11 was to tald settlement since we finally sold some items and now have some cash to go a max of 40% of the debt. It seems like 112 days was a little premature on their part but it is what it is. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the law firm? Are they just acting as a rep for citi due to the early transfer to them?
