For what amount of debt do credit card companies/debt collectors usually sue for? How long after you stop paying does this usually happen? Can they find you if you are in another country? Can they garnish wages in another country?

That is a heck of a lot of questions there.Ok first thing most do is make an attempt at either inhouse or outside collections. This will happen usually 60 days past due on up to chargeoff date. Most creditors look at you personally to see if you are worth the time and money required in a suit. Some collection attornies sue anybody and everybody. I am sure you can be found in Canada or Europe since credit bureaus have offices there and will take steps to ensure your report would follow you. I am unsure of garnishment proceedings on a international level so you may need to research that with an attorney.

Sometimes the collectors don't have any phone numbers to contact the people. By doing skip tracing and looking for different phone numbers where you can be reached, they find a way to contact you. Collectors skip trace when they receive an account with no phone number, or if the number is disconnected, someone living in an old address, or a vague reference to a place of employment.
