I recived my first call frm allied interstate however they contacted me about an acc i did owe over 10 years ago never paid. anyway i talked to 3 different people because i was having trouble understanding their accent, and ended with the manager Atol, who did confirm that were overseas in India when i had asked them when the last time they sent out a collection notice they said feb of this year 'to which i never recived' and when i asked for them to send out another notice so that i can see the information on paper he told me unless i pay over the phone they can not send me any information through the mail. they needed payment first then they would send the notice???? I had never heard of that before. and he also advised me they do not accept payment thorugh mail only thorugh the phone!!! i had never heard of that either?? so ofcorse i said that if they wanted the payment they were going to have to send me some information first..and i ended the conversation! now does this sound right??? is any collection agency able to have these type of 'Rules' ???

It is quite surprising to note that they want the payment first and then they would send you the notice. Unless they send you some information, do not make the payments. A lot of discussion has taken place on Allied Intestate in the forums. Take a look at it from the given page: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/allied-interstate.html

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
It seems to be a scam. Don't pay a penny to them. Ask them to send a debt validation letter first. If they don't send the letter, send a cease and desist letter to them. Alternatively, check the SOL on the debt has expired. If it has expired then they can't sue you for the debt. But the bottom line is don't make any payments to them unless they validate the debt.

Debt validation requests need to be submitted in writing. Asking over the phone is generally useless. I would suggest your check your credit report and see if there's anything showing on there from Allied. If so, I would dispute it. Also, what state do you live in? 10 years is very likely past the statute of limitations anyway.
