Documentation Needed But Northstar Unhelpful

I called this company up to try to work something out and they gave me a "supervisor" who was so rude. I was being really nice and trying to see if we could sort something out. I explained the situation and told them that I need to get documents from their company to show when the account was started, as my sister husband is liable for 1/2 since it was taken out during the 25 years they were married.
All the "supervisor" kept on about was that my sister had to pay now and she had to pay the entire amount of $7,44.00. I said she can't do that she is on disability etc. etc. it was like I was talking to a pre-recorded message, like she wasn't listen to a word I was saying. Finally she said look we don't do payments.
So I asked ok what happens next do you take her to court or what? This is when she got really nasty and went off on how they can't do that but that my sister has to pay and then she just hung up on me. I sat there almost in shock.
Any suggestions what my next step should be I still need those documents for my sisters lawyers.

A collection agency is under no obligation to tell you or provide proof when the account was opened. That has nothing to do with collections. That information would be available on your sisters credit report....the original creditors tradeline will say when the account was opened.

Have they sent anything like a collection letter or something? They need to send that to you. What the HOF Mod has written is true but from what you have written, I think the CA is violating the Federal laws by 'being nasty' with you.

i have a question.did you sign a "power of attorney"form?if so then you need to bring that up to this place and get an address to send it.at least as the guest above me stated they must send you a collection letter at least.what they are doing is wrong.pure and simple.

Depends on what being nasty is....there is nothing illegal about being rude or nasty provided it doesnt cross the line to swearing, threatening actions they cannot or will not take or physical violence. You cannot expect customer service from a collection agency since you are not a customer....the client who hired them is the customer.
