we started getting calls from wfnnb 2 week ago, also from a company called ads, saying we owed them money.neither could tell us any thing about the account, only that we owed them money from 17 years ago. we have never had an account with these people. i asked if maybe they had us mixed up with my brother and his wife, who split up 3 years ago, they could not. my brother stayes 3 houses down from me on the same street, one #different in his ss#,his birthday is in the same month as mine ,and his wifes first name is the same as my wifes. over the past 30 years we have had alot of trouble from this ,we always get his crappie credit. the only thing these people could tell us is we owed them money. what to do?

If you do not owe the debt, you're not liable to pay it. Moreover, you should also check out the SOL for such debts in your state. If the SOL period is over, then you won't have to pay the dues to them though they call you. You should also have a word with your brother and check out if he owes the debt. If he owes the debt, then he will be liable for paying it off.

Take a look at what consumers have to say about them from:

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
I think this is the case of mistaken identity. Next time they call you, tell them that you don't owe the debt. If they still call you, then tell them to validate the debt. If they can't validate the debt, then send a cease and desist letter to them. Ask your brother whether or not he owes any money to wfnnb. If he does any money to wfnnb, then tell him to check whether or not the debt has crossed the SOL period of the state. If it has crossed the SOL period of the state, then ask your brother to not pay any money to the collection agency. Wfnnb can't sue your brother for non-repayment of debt anymore.
