I just realized you can go online and send money, my only concern is you use your debit card. Has anyone ever done this online before? Who actually gets the debit card info, is it western union? I just want to make sure i get all my information before i decide if i want to use this option.

I've always heard it's a bad idea to use Western Union or other wire services to send payment to payday lenders...it's sometimes hard to prove receipt of the money, leaving the lender an opening to say they didn't get it and continue pursuing you. I'm not sure why, but that's what I've always heard - that a money order or cashier's check by mail is the best way to handle the payment.

I think anyway you send it they can say they didn't get it... I wonder why you can't prove it with the wire services, you'd have a confirmation number and everything. Or are the companies in cahoots with the money services, they bot say it ended up in the ether why they both take a share?

Just knowing some background info about how WU works. With the quick collect system, a check actually prints at their (the recepient's) office or they get auto deposited electronically to a designated account. If they cash the WU check or choose to "accept" the autodeposit, they have accepted the funds.

If they say they didnt get it, and did either of the two thing above, then WU can actually take action.

When you send wire transfers oversees there is no way to track it. That's why it's not safe to send to the online PDL's.

To answer the question--I have used WU online to send payments. It's quick and easy. The only prob. is usually after I do it, I get a call from my bank asking if I really authorized it...Which makes me feel good and annoyed at the same time..lol Good that they're being protective, and annoyed that they authorize the payment before asking me.

jessi-I agree.....especially since a WU Quick Collect can only be sent to merchants in the USA-

"Our Quick Collect service allows you to send payments directly to participating billers in the United States using your credit or debit card (Visa???? and MasterCard???? only).
Quick Collect payments can be sent online or at an Agent location. "

If a PDL asks you to send a WU traditional service (non-quick collect), then yes, tracability is diminished.

Also, to send a WU Quick Collect on-line, the company has to be pre-registered a you can only choose from a drop down menu.

Okay is it just me, or does the fact that tracing essentially disappears after it is picked up just really really dumb? WU needs to check over their system, do they dump everything into the trash when it is all said and done? I wouldn't trust anything with that bad of record keeping... I'm Pro Money Order!

Right bill pay services are much different, but you are still putting your account information online, and even if a PDL can't get it from that, doesn't mean someone else can't steal it from you, so if you are paranoid like I am, avoid anything that involves entering account numbers....

Okay let me sum this up... To see if I got it right...

Western Union (traditional) can't be traced after pick up, if anyone suggests this, send them a money order that can be traced....

Quick Collect (via Western Union) Can be traced, because companies have to be registered with WU... Bad thing is most PDLs aren't going to be registered like that, usually big companies for your regular bills are set up for this. I believe Volley checked both of your PDLs TMBL, and they aren't on the drop down menu.
